Cho Sang Tae is Yong Pil's father and husband of late Bu Mi Ja. Having worked at the Jeju Bongsan Town Office for nearly 40 years, he is currently working as a contract employee in the civil complaints team after retiring.
He had liked Bu Mi Ja, who grew up in the same neighborhood since childhood. A sincere man who was known as a fool, he eventually succeeded in winning her heart. He had wanted to spend his life looking at Bu Mi Ja, protecting her, and being with her. However, he lost her too early. Losing his wife, he raised his high school son alone. Acting as a caring father, sometimes like a mother and sometimes like a friend, he is always there for Yong Pil. While generally kind, warm, and friendly to everyone, he tends to be a bit distant, especially towards Mi Ja and Pa Shik.
