Koo Yeong Chun
Koo Yeong Chun is imprisoned for the serial murders of wealthy elderly people and women between 2003 and 2004. He starts by impersonating a police officer, using a fake ID, and experiments with killing a dog before committing his first murder. His focus is on the act of killing, not robbing, revealing typical serial killer behavior. Despite a lack of clear motive, Song Ha Yeong suspects his hatred for Christianity after discovering he burned a cross.
After being caught on CCTV, Koo changes his methods, killing a massage parlor employee and dismembering her body. He almost incapacitates Yun Tae Gu, but is eventually arrested after a delay. Koo is intelligent, egotistical, and brags about his crimes, even mocking detectives. During interrogation, he demands to speak only to the highest-ranking officer. When Superintendent Baek Jun Sik enters, Koo reveals the burial site.
Koo is arrested with the help of the Criminal Behavior Analysis Team and Kisu Unit. He justifies his actions by blaming his father’s domestic violence and claims murder is his profession. After criticism from Song Ha Yeong, he becomes enraged and loses composure. His home is filled with anatomy books and human X-ray photos, indicating his study of efficient ways to kill. He also suffers from epilepsy, causing seizures.
