At the start of the series, he is Song Ha Yeong’s direct superior and uses violence to force a false confession from Bang Gi Hun, framing him for Choi Hwa Yeon’s murder. Offended by Song Ha Yeong’s continued investigation, he clashes with him early on. When the real killer is caught, he and his team are demoted for arresting the wrong suspect.

He returns in episode 11 as head of Division 1 at the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency. Noticing a pattern in recent disappearances, he reports to Heo Gil Pyo and brings Song Ha Yeong back to lead a new investigation. After Woo Ho Seong is arrested, he handles the interrogation and, with Song Ha Yeong’s help and DNA evidence, secures a confession despite being pushed to his limits.

Initially seen as a violent and incompetent detective, he gradually redeems himself by recognizing suspicious patterns and supporting the investigation. His subtle cooperation, even in early episodes, like quietly approving forensic work, hints at a tsundere-like depth that leads to his eventual reconciliation with Song Ha Yeong.
