" To the dear ones we haven't seen for a long time:

Greetings.

From spring to summer, time has passed like poetry in the sunlight. Together, we have walked through countless days filled with anticipation. And now, this emotionally rich story is finally ready to knock on your door — The Prisoner of Beauty (折腰) sincerely invites you to return home and share in this moment.

This is a letter, but even more, it is a token of remembrance. At countless moments, we imagined how each of you would look while watching The Prisoner of Beauty — perhaps smiling at Qiao Man’s cleverness, or being moved by the tenderness in Wei Shao’s eyes. Their story begins with family loyalty and ends with a love that transcends life and death. She is a young woman brave enough to love amidst the chaos of the world, and he is a generational of hero who bears the burden of his family’s revenge yet remains true to love. Their romance, like honey on the edge of a blade, is as perilous as it is sweet.

On this land where the flames of war never cease, there are many other lovable people — sisters who stand together against fate, brothers who protect each other in chaotic times with unwavering loyalty... Each character is vividly alive in this world, waiting to meet you.

The journey home requires your company. The Prisoner of Beauty is not just a story on screen; it is a dream we share with each of you. If you love, love deeply; if you protect, protect fiercely. With words as our shield and emotions as our pen, let us watch this drama together, staying true to the story and true to you.

A short letter, heavy with emotion.

We’ve prepared warm tea, firelight, and heartfelt emotions, awaiting your return to the beginning of this story.

Respectfully,

The production team of The Prisoner of Beauty"

Ends with a love that transcends life and death? The ending worries me...

If they Song Zu'er another sad ending I gonna curse so badly

I asked because several of Liu Yu Ning's last dramas have sad endings...

This drama has cut out most of the novel and made ML into a fool in love so far while FL is a skilled manipulator of his emotions. While people may like it and it is nicely done it really has nothing to do with the novel characters and personalities. But I will watch it anyway

Oh no... I haven't even started yet... is he a simp?

He definitely doesn't seem like a simp to me. So far, they're pretty much playing a game of cat and mouse together. Yes, she is more manipulative. He is more aggressive. Both are very strategic, smart people with their own goals. Hers is to win him over for peace. His is revenge for the deaths of his family. He even comments on how much he hates how manipulative she is, "just like the rest of her family". But at the same time, you can tell he finds things in her to admire, and vice versa. Maybe he'll become a "simp" later, but I feel like people like to apply that description to every hero in a romance drama, so, YMMV.

 Cho Na:

no, like Suliabryon said it's a pair of totally different people. I don't think there is much point in comparing book and the drama.  I am at ep 5 and rate it so far only 7.5/10 for predictability of the characters and the plot.

"A fool in love"?

You're deliberately exaggerating, why are you doing that? It's true we all interpret things differently, but don't try to push a narrative that isn't true here.

Don't mislead people please. The characters follow the novel even if a bit tamped down. And that is because they can't adapt that into the drama.

Please, if anyone is interested in watching, try out a few episodes by yourself and make your decisions. Don't necessarily listen to everything you read before doing so.
