[SPOILER ALERT]

[SPOILER ALERT]

[SPOILER ALERT]

The moment we’ve all been waiting for... it finally happened.

The FL found out that the masked hero she’s in love with is actually the ML she hates.
Her heartbreak. His tears. Oof.

We, the audience, saw it coming. But how we felt about it? That’s another story.

I put together a fun little guide imagining how 6 different types of drama watchers might react to this emotional scene:

🎓 Cognitive Explorer

"A satisfying narrative payoff. The emotional logic holds—betrayal of identity is the real dagger here. Now let’s see if the writing delivers on its psychological promise."

😢 Nostalgic Fan

"This scene wrecked me! It’s classic melodrama—tears, heartbreak, doomed love. I felt like I was back in my first C-drama Eternal Love, crying into my pillow all over again."

⚖️ Justice Seeker

"He tried to kill her, then lied to her. He’s crying now? Good. Let him suffer. She deserves truth, not excuses."

🍿 Casual Viewer

"Whoa! That was messy and dramatic—I loved it 😂 Can’t wait to see if she forgives him or sets his house on fire."

💥 Progressive Critic

"Romanticizing deception again? No thanks. Let’s stop rewarding manipulation with tragic violins. This trope needs a serious update."

🎭 Emotional Reactor

"My heart broke for both of them. He messed up, but his pain was real. Her devastation was even worse. I just want them to find healing—even if it’s apart."

I am definitely the Emotional Reactor. I can see both sides are hurt by the other.  What Song Yimeng says to him is true, and what Nan Heng has said to her is true. I am glad that they can try to move on now with more honesty and actually build that trust.

I love that you're seeing both sides with empathy — that’s definitely the Emotional Reactor in action 💛

Thank you! I am so glad you post these kinds of discussions because these are what I was looking for!

I am both a progessive critic and emotional reactor. I believe I would have been an emotional reactor but all the Chinese comments I read are always so aganist Song Yimeng whenever she bad mouths Nan Heng that I can't help but mentally defend her whenever Nan Heng's feelings get hurt. He 100% wanted to kill her, kidnap her, posion her, torture her, and inprison her. Yimeng has every right to not trust him or hate him. She told him repeatly she does not want to marry him and yet he acts betrayed when she canelled the enagement. And now the lying, which I feel bad for both but I also feel like most people will feel bad for Nan Heng so I feel offended on Yimeng's behalf.

I'm an emotional reactor, I guess... Most viewers keep hating on the FL while pitying the ML, but like the director said in his interview, "We're watching with god-mode on." We, as audiences, know what's going on on both sides of the main leads. Meanwhile, they are going with the flow and are blinded by what they are experiencing. We, as a third person, know what they don't and feel frustrated at times when things don't go how we want them to. Then, those who are saying the FL is annoying should also watch BaiLu's costume dramas and try to understand, cuz her characters mostly hurt her MLs ( ಠ‿ಠ ')..  [although there's a backstory] The most similar one being LiSuSu from "Till The End of The Moon". Don't get me wrong, I'm a BaiLu fan.. I'm just trying to compare their characters.

Wow, I love this discussion topic X3

Emotional reactor 100% I was in PAIN. I felt bad for BOTH of them

You’re such a powerful mix of Emotional Reactor and Progressive Critic — and I’m definitely sensing some Justice Seeker energy too 👀⚖️ The way you stand up for Yimeng, especially when most people side with Nan Heng, really shows how much you value both fairness and the emotional impact of what characters go through.

I really appreciate you bringing in the director’s “god-mode” comment — it’s such a helpful lens for understanding why viewers and characters often feel so out of sync. The comparison to Bai Lu’s roles adds interesting context; her characters often lean into strong emotions and flawed decisions. Thanks for sharing such a thoughtful take and enjoying this discussion with me 💛

That’s the Emotional Reactor in full force 💔💛 Feeling the pain on both sides is such a deep, empathetic response — thank you for sharing it so openly.
