I always took it as the show trying to show his mindset rather than saying he was right, because Khem and Charn immediately disagreed with him. But it still felt selfish, especially because Jet mainly followed Khem out of worry for Khem and not really because he cared about Rae herself. I feel like the writers used Rae’s situation more to develop the characters and themes instead of fully addressing the abuse itself... Another pov from the people defending Jet’s line usually sees it less as “Jet supports abuse” and more as him trying to stop Khem from getting involved in something dangerous. Since Khem always throws himself into helping others, Jet might’ve been thinking emotionally/practically like “don’t put yourself at risk over another couple’s situation.” And because Jet’s priorities are almost always centered around Khem specifically, his following Khem reads more as protectiveness over his friend than concern for Rae herself. I don't know, I could be completely wrong though!!
