I felt like Dan's backstory was so sad. Everyone called him a villain, an annoying guy but he was also an broken human being trying to survive. He also highlighted how he initially didn't want to bother anyone anymore seeing Jane alee was genuinely happy but seeing Jane alee's family suffer brought back Dan his old trauma. He lost his parents and also his unrequited love what kind of a person would still play the good guy if all of that happened to them?. I'm happy he died atleast his suffering ended permanently.

He was the only other emotionally complex character asides from Jane Patrick. Maybe Dan is happy and also an green flag in some other universe.
