It was really good overall. Only the pace slows down a bit between episodes 20 and 27, but then it picks up again with renewed excitement. That slowdown was necessary, and it was clear the story was heading in a different direction. It wasn’t a surprise, because it became obvious toward the end that we’d revisit the girl's original struggle — meaning the psychopathic empress would become more involved in the story. So I wasn’t surprised.
Of course, I’m also tired of seeing the same kind of crazy villain women over and over again, but ever since Double, that’s become a trend. I really don’t like it, but unfortunately, since it's so popular, that wave is going to continue.
Still, I really loved this series. Despite the psycho empress, the overall flow, the romance, and the excitement of the other events were all very well done. All the supporting characters were great. The fact that none of the main secondary characters died and it ended happily was also extremely satisfying — something we rarely see.
In my opinion, this has been Liu Xue Yi’s best-quality series since In Blossom, and also the female lead’s best work since Blossom as well.

✨✨✨✨✨✨😊
I also see many positives in this drama. The story's main thread was picked up again. And all the loose ends were tied up (in what really mattered to the story). They succeeded in every action to restore justice in this drama. All the heroes achieved their goals. And it was well done (we felt the taste of what was accomplished). The love between them (at the end), we see that it had the most logical and coherent outcome (the happy ending). Both are cold people, but between the lines and subtleties, they demonstrated their love. (The first half was as hot as pepper, like the pepper the main couple used as the drama's symbol at the Tencent event). And then it became a love conflict without those outbursts (even violent ones on their part). It became a conventional love story (slow-paced), but there was a happy ending for everyone. I like happy endings, and even though the execution could have been better, this ending was still a relief.
@eliteles1 I absolutely, 100% agree with every detail. A love that started off fiery like chili peppers gradually turned into a deeper and more mature affection. They were beautiful in every way, and they made us feel love in all its forms. At times, it was a wild, loud, and passionate love full of fights; at others, it was expressed through dramatic sacrifices made without a second thought, and through the tears they shed in pain for their loved ones. 🥰🥰🥰
There was nothing left unresolved or half-finished. Everything was beautifully tied together. Our heroes step by step resolved all the problems both internally and externally. Only the death of the handsome master was saddening, but other than that, all the main characters surviving is almost a miracle for a Chinese drama — and I love that miracle. Both the supporting and main characters found peace. Because I don’t like endings where the main supporting characters die but the leads survive. If it’s going to be a happy ending, then it should be happy for everyone. If someone has to die, then let them all die together. Of course, I prefer happy endings where everyone survives. And thanks to that, I found peace too. It was perfect. 🥰🥰🥰
Let the minor flaws just stay in the background. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

You described it beautifully. Thank you for the incredibly sensitive summary. Without a doubt, this happy ending is almost a miracle for everyone involved. And how good it is for us. They're afraid of happy endings. Perhaps they think a happy ending isn't convincing. (The story is asking for a happy ending, and they distort it.) But here, no, the heroes had the courage to overcome all their dilemmas, and the main couple found themselves together near the peach tree where Jiang Tao Hua told Shen Zai Ye that she missed the blossoms of that tree.😘😘😘😘✨😶🌫️🎉

VDN I plan to watch this drama. Kindly give me some spoilers regarding:
1. When are the main couple officially together?
2. Has the main couple experienced any breakups? If so, for how long (in terms of episodes)?
3. During the breakup period, is there any time skip for the main couple?
4. When do the main couple reconcile (which episode)?
5. Is there a second male lead or second female lead syndrome?
6. Are there any annoying ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend characters?
7. Does it have a happy, sad, open, or rushed ending?
Thanks for the update (spoiler)...👍
"Observe
1. It is a slow burn love and heavily in political intrigue, they are suspicious to each other, so they married but not really trusting each other.
2.Yes, the Ml started to fall really hard for Fl but Fl decided to leave Ml in ep 18.
3. There's no time skip for the main couple, but the Fl kept pushing the Ml away, and the focus was switched to the political issues.
4. They starting to work together again in episode 29 and reconcile in ep 30.
5. There's no second ml or fl syndrome.
6.There's no ex boyfriend or girlfriend character.
7.It has a happy rushed ending, but I am satisfied with it.

3. No time skip. They still work together.
4. Around episode 26. But they reconcile slowly.
5. No third wheeler, no love triangle, no past love.
6. Happy ending. Some people said it is rushed. But it is better than a crash ending.

You might think the drama lost its way in the second half (but it actually followed the narrative to the end with a satisfying conclusion (which many dramas don't). The problem is that the style of the drama has changed (much of the charm of the first half of the drama has been lost). But if we look at it another way (there is another kind of charm in the second half of the drama), because in fact these characters, the main couple, pursued their goal until the end and managed to achieve it satisfactorily (they defeated all their enemies), looking each villain in the face and saying (I beat you, and you know why you deserve it). In addition to another satisfactory result (they both solved the problem that threatened their lives). There was no excuse (we will meet in the next life to be happy). The problem? (It was very fast, very restrained in that ending). But there is a catharsis (as the ancient Greek writers would say), in the sense that the whole journey of the heroes was not in vain. I feel that some stories are more beautiful, and full of exciting moments (but in the end it seems that everything was in vain, because it seems that they did not achieve their goals so long pursued throughout their journey). And because of that, this drama would deserve at least an 8. Because calculating pros and cons, there are more pros.
PS:
And the romantic side, there are moments throughout the drama for the main couple to show us this too.
