if some chinese people are dumb enough to commit suicide after watching rebirth drama then they should simply just die, its survival of fittest

They can be dumb, smart, emotional, etc.  you don’t own their lives to make harsh comments about them. And if you're saying someone 'deserves to die' just because they didn’t use their brain wisely, then how are you any different? You didn’t use your own brain wisely while making such a comment. So will you also follow the same remark you're making about them? If you can’t solve someone’s problems, then there’s no need to make them worse.

 Baiyinghua1995:
South Korea and Japan have higher suicide rates than China. Just look at how many Korean celebrities and korean common people who committed suicide there.

I just want to gently point out that the topic here isn't about suicide rates in different countries. Bringing that up can unintentionally shift the focus and lead the discussion off track. Rather than resolving any rude or off-topic comments, it might end up creating more tension. Let’s try to keep the conversation neutral and focused, so it stays constructive for everyone involved.

people have their reason to suc*de , small or big they know it well . and it happen in everywhere in the world .

Your last sentence is also my point. That's why i brought Korea and Japan suicide rates. IT'S NOT ONLY IN CHINA. It happens also in another countries with even more serious rates. You're wrong to judge me like that. I am Chinese myself and I don't want to trigger something else. People have various reasons to commit suicide, it also depends on their mentality states.

And the previous commenter is dumb enough to judge those "some Chinese people" who committed suicide with very RUDE attitude. It's not as simple as "they" want to follow Scarlet Heart (2011) drama to get "new life". Who knows that those some ppl actually had very serious problem in their life?  Who is she/he to judge them that they deserved to die without knowing the exact real reason? As living people, they also know that Life and death are not playful things.

@Baiyinghua1995

Sometimes, when a topic is addressed in a more specific rather than general way, it may unintentionally come across as biased or directed, especially in discussions or debates. Your statement seemed to carry that tone, which is why I felt it might be helpful to point it out just to prevent any potential misunderstanding or conflict. I truly appreciate your clarification, and it's reassuring to know that it wasn’t your intention.

The current BLs that are being released now are only airing internationally; they are still banned in China from all I’ve read. We can watch it, but without using software to essentially break Chinese law, people in mainland China cannot.

Can people in China access sites that upload drama. I don't mean iqiyi and viki. I mean the other kinds or do they get banned/blocked there?

Edit: This question can be answered by anyone who knows the situation in China.

Also, it is sad to hear that rebirth dramas mistakenly caused people to commit suicide. It must have triggered something rather than being plain naivety.

Most of the people in China use VPN for international sites or apps. They are banned to use foreign search engines etc including foreign apps and websites. IQiyi is Chinese platform. Ofc they are not blocked in China.

Right but dramas would be region locked in iqiyi that's why I said I don't mean that site/app.

Ah, I didn't know foreign search engines are also blocked.

Yes. Google can't enter China. Chinese people use Baidu search engine. It's a parent company of iQiyi. I am Chinese so I know this very well. So, if you see Chinese people use facebook, youtube, or instagram, they use VPN for sure. Government also can't do anything about VPN. They can't stop it.

When I travelled to China, if I use their network, I can only access BaiDu, YouKu and WeiXin. It’s their network restriction like Japan many years ago. Thats lot of inconveniences when I tried to watch drama there.  lol! But using your own network and VPN, no issue.

But between I noticed that China recently has allowed a release of ‘BL’ type drama, like ABO, so there may be possibility to see other types of shelved drama e.g ‘Immortality’…fingers crossed!

ABO is released for international only. China still doesn't allow any type of BL dramas. It will be blocked in China for sure. Immortality can be released if they follow Justice in the Dark road with going in the longer path like travelling to Japan first.

Ah I see, That explained and I was surprised that I get to see these two shows being release. So probably if an International platform purchase it, those shelved dramas will come to light.

Thanks for info.;)

I am not sure with Immortality though. Justice in the Dark already passed the heavy censorship before they go to Japan. In the other side, Immortality still can't obtain their license. Winner is King is also the same. They need to go heavy censorship first before go to other countries. BL is totally banned in China. The company also faced many risks in releasing this forbidden contents. China only allows man and woman romance/straight relationship at this point.

Problem with VPNs is that they slow down your speed a lot. I think ABO fans are worried about the show getting cancelled so I am not sure. They are changing some broadcast rules and making it stricter if anything. Even straight romance dramas get censored if they are too steamy so I don't know about BLs having better luck.

No. Straight romance dramas have A LOT of steamy kissing scenes and they are still ALLOWED. Just look at brutal kissing scenes from Story of Kunning Palace in ep 32 and 36.

They allow forced hot kissing scenes in Kill Me Love Me ep 1. We also have hot bed scenes + passionate kissing scenes from 2 episodes of The Prisoner of Beauty (ep 29 and ep 32).

Many short dramas also have wilder and bold kissing scenes and they went through censorship as well. They allow those intimate scenes.
