I know this isn't a medical focussed drama, but with how important the mom's illness is, you would've thought they researched how cancer treatments and hospital staff would act a little more.
Some of the scenes were so badly written with minimal research that it took me out of the immersion.
The thing that irked me most is that the mom has probably stage 3 or 4 breast cancer, yet she still has breasts??? Literally at the end when they test the new medicine, they show a mammogram...but if she really did have such advanced cancer, then wouldn't they have operated already to remove the tumor???? And I know not every patient with breast cancer needs a mastectomy but in that mammogram it showed that the cancer tumours were spread almost throughout her whole breast meaning that breast conserving operation wouldn't really have been possible, (bc yk it's already at an advanced stage) and drugs and radiation and chemo also wouldn't have done a lot...
And even if she did have conserving operations at the beginning, wouldn't a doctor logically have said after more tests and treatments shwoing that the cancer had returned: 'Hey, the cancer has spread more and we have to do a masectomy, it's the only way.' Like c'mon??? And i get that the actual actress can't have a mastectomy but at least don't show a mammogram then? And it would've been nice to see her take off her wig or that TXN helps her with her wig or at least something else that makes her actually look like a cancer patient...or maybe that's too cliché.
and then the death scene? the nurses really said after pushing xiaoning away for 3 seconds 'welp ur on ur own now' that's wild. like hello??? escort her out of the room??????? It's traumatising to watch your loved one die before your eyes and they didn't nearly do enough to keep her out of the room. Speaking of which, why were there other patients just witnessing this poor woman's death? That was so weird like you gonna watch another human being die? yikes. not nearly a good enough scene for that wonderful mother in law.
Anyways what are your thoughts?
