Question between episode 3 and 4 (NO LATER SPOILERS PLEASE)

How did the ML infer that Squid must also have the looper ability? Am I missing something with how Ep3 concluded which proves the bad guy is a looper? Ep 4 confirms this, but my question is, how did he figure it out?
