I feel the same. I had to rewatch it to ensure I hadn't missed anything.  As the story has just begun, there are signs that Sing was brought back solely to be Thup's savior. Transferring Sing back from Special Investigation, I feel the same; I had to rewatch it to ensure I hadn't missed anything.
