The case centers on a mother who, after her daughter’s unfortunate death, falls into a state of obsessive grief, imitating her daughter’s style, speech, and even engaging in extreme behavior in a state of mental confusion, ultimately leading to tragedy.
The case also dissects the psychological trauma, obsession, and practical difficulties following the death of a loved one, exploring the boundaries of love, and the blurred lines between good and evil—when maternal love becomes obsession, protection becomes destruction; and the professionalism and perseverance of criminal investigators are the light that pierces the darkness.
Ms. Zhao, originally a compassionate doctor, suffered a mental breakdown after her 16-years-old daughter was assaulted and killed. A doctor-mother, who should have been a guardian of life, was dragged into an abyss of revenge by her obsession.
