ShuHe - Our 6th Prince has only 24 years old when he lost his world again. He learnt to love with his soul and body, but his lover did not understand him and in the end felt like a betrayal. He lost his father who was starting to accept him, he lost his brother that hated SH but represented the future of the South Kingdom. His absence would fulfill SH darkest prophecy: he became the King.
He was not good at it and it transpired that people were not happy. During the nights, he long for his lost lover, he though of him all the time...his only love that became his enemy.
DuanZiAng- If SH lost everything, DZA lost even more, he lost the only "home" he ever had. He did not have a palace, a life of arts, a good doctor friend, a brother, a father, a country. DZA has been uprooted since his mother gave it to the Duan family and was "recovered" to the North Kingdom, not to become a son, but to become an assassin. SH became everything to him, his only love, his family, his capacity of dreaming again. All shattered in the night in the bridge. 5 years DZA long for SH. He missed him so much that his memories were like fire in his loins, a stabbing in his heart, every year weaker. DZA wanted a reward after so much suffering, He fought his way through the central plains, pacified the region, became the emperor, people welcomed him. He stopped at the South borders and wanted to form an aliance to reestablished "trade" he wrote, of course reestablished his liaison with SH too. SH rejected him plainly. He went as far as returning the dagger that were representing his feeling for SH. Nothing could drove him more to edge than this. He pressed on and conquered the South who welcomed him at the gates, but his lover preferred death than surrender. The rejection in the carriage, the rejection of the house and all the details that so lovingly and obsessively he cared for in preparation for the day SH would join him, all for nothing. From that suffering came the phrases we will never forget:
"You love the one who hates you, and hate the one who loves you" to which SH wisely respond: Are you not both?
