This adaptation is a Hidden love mini adaptation that has been called out by the author Zhu yi. I didn't know many people did not get the info about that so decided to document it here.
📌The company statement on behalf of the Author:
"Solemn Statement Regarding the Web Miniseries "Hidden Love: Only for You"
Recently, our company, Beijing Jinjiang Original Network Technology Co., Ltd., (Jinjiang Literature City) became aware that a web miniseries titled "Hidden Love for You" (hereinafter referred to as "the miniseries") is about to be released and broadcast.
In light of this situation, our company and the original author Zhu Yi (@小竹已) solemnly declare the following:
Through our company acting as agent, author Zhu Yi has only granted the adaptation rights for the novel "Hidden Love" to be made into a web drama to Horgos Wajijiwa Entertainment Culture Co., Ltd., along with other relevant adaptation rights. No authorization has ever been granted to adapt the work into a web miniseries.
Furthermore, a supplementary agreement to the authorization contract clearly stipulates that Horgos Wahaha Entertainment Culture Co., Ltd. is strictly prohibited from re-adapting the work into a web miniseries or any similar format.
Therefore, the production and broadcasting of this web miniseries is suspected of violating the terms of the aforementioned agreement and may constitute infringement of the original work's copyright.
Our company and the original author hereby issue this solemn statement:
We reserve all rights to pursue legal action against any suspected acts of infringement upon the copyright of the original work.
At the same time, we call upon readers and viewers to remain vigilant and carefully verify relevant information. Please be cautious of any potential false promotions related to this web miniseries and safeguard your legitimate rights.
Hereby Declared."

📌The production statement:
"Our company ( Wajijiwa Entertainment Culture Co., Ltd.) hereby makes the following statement regarding the adaptation and filming rights of the novel Can't Hide Secretly (hereinafter referred to as the "licensed work"):
The author of the work, Zhu Yi (hereinafter referred to as the "author"), and Beijing Jinjiang Original Network Technology Co., Ltd. (Jinjiang Literature City) (hereinafter referred to as "Jinjiang") signed a "Can't Hide Secretly" audiovisual adaptation license agreement with our company in 2019 (hereinafter referred to as the "original agreement"). Subsequently, in 2024, a supplementary agreement to the audiovisual adaptation license of Can't Hide Secretly was signed (hereinafter referred to as "Supplementary Agreement 1").
The original agreement and Supplementary Agreement 1 clearly stipulate that the author and Jinjiang exclusively authorize our company, within the national territory, to independently adapt, film, produce, and distribute audiovisual works based on the licensed work. According to the definition of “audiovisual” in the original agreement, it refers to films, TV dramas, web series, and online movies in which real people perform. Among them, "web series" refers specifically to serial dramas published and made available to the public only on online video platforms.
Therefore, based on the contractual agreements mentioned above, our company has adapted the licensed work and produced the web series Hidden love for you.
Hereby declared."

🧾 TL;DR :
Zhu Yi, the author of Hidden Love, and her agency Jinjiang Literature City claim that Wajijiwa has the right to produce a full-length web drama based on the novel only.
A new web miniseries titled Hidden Love for You suddenly appeared, triggering concerns.
Jinjiang Literature City + Zhu Yi released a statement saying:
They never authorized a web miniseries version.
Their agreement with Wajijiwa explicitly forbids re-adaptation into a miniseries or similar.
The new miniseries might be a contract violation and copyright infringement.
Wajijiwa Responds:
Wajijiwa says they do have rights to adapt Hidden Love under a 2019 agreement and 2024 supplement.
They interpret the term "web series" (网络剧) in the contract to include all serialized online content—including miniseries.
So, from their view, Hidden Love for You is not a breach but just a different form of the same license.
📌How the Contract Was Exploited:
The loophole lies in the definition of “web series” in the contract:
Jinjiang & Zhu Yi’s stance:“Web drama” = full-length series only.
Miniseries or alternate formats are explicitly prohibited in the 2024 supplement.
Wajijiwa producing a short-form mini is a breach of that clause.
📌Wajijiwa’s argument:
The term "web series" in the original contract includes all types of online serialized dramas.
Since the miniseries is published online, they argue it falls under their licensed rights.
⚠️ On July 3rd the two companies involved released statements again:
Joint Statement Regarding the Adaptation of Hidden Love posted by Wajijiwa official weibo:
"To all the friends who care about Hidden Love:
Recently, the short web drama Hidden Love: Only for You (hereinafter referred to as “the miniseries”) has sparked widespread discussion among readers and viewers. After thorough communication and negotiation, Wajijiwa Entertainment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Wajijiwa”), Beijing Jinjiang Original Network Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Jinjiang Literature City”), and the original fHauthor Zhu Yi have reached the following consensus regarding the matter:
Wajijiwa has always valued its cooperative relationship with Jinjiang Literature City and Ms. Zhu Yi. We sincerely apologize to Jinjiang Literature City, Ms. Zhu Yi, and all the readers and viewers who care about Hidden Love for the oversights that occurred during the adaptation process. We are grateful for the continued support and affection from everyone towards the adaptation of Hidden Love. Going forward, Wajijiwa will strictly adhere to the terms of our agreements to ensure that similar issues do not happen again.
After amicable negotiations among the three parties, Wajijiwa has decided—out of respect for the author, in the spirit of friendly cooperation, and with care for the integrity of the work—to permanently take down the miniseries as of July 3, 2025. In the future, Wajijiwa will continue striving to present high-quality content to readers and viewers and contribute to the flourishing development of the cultural industry.
Thank you for your understanding and support!"

The statement announces that Wajijiwa, Jinjiang Literature City, and author Zhu Yi have resolved their dispute over the unauthorized adaptation of Hidden Love: Only for You. Wajijiwa apologized for the oversight and agreed to permanently take down the miniseries as of July 3, 2025, promising to prevent similar issues in the future.
We done! It's officially over!
There's one thing I don't get. The production company and author signed agreement in 2019 and a 40 min 25 episode was made in 2023. What was the 2024 (one year after drama had already aired) agreement made for? Is there any info on that?
Also if the production company thinks purchasing the copyright of the story to make series would give them the right to make infinite number of series is totally wrong. If this happens then, one company buys an IP, then milks it by making one 40 min per episode drama, then makes one 10 min per episode, another 2 min per episode or may be like k-dramas a 90 min per episode series; it's unfair to the author.

As for the 2024 one I think it was made for the distribution rights for the already done adaptation but details are unclear .
I think they're going through legal stuff behind the scenes after a public call out so we are not getting the details.
The only thing that is sure is this was not approved by the author.
