I just finished NIF. I was riveted all the way through the show, truly a masterpiece. Of course I cried in episode 54, watched the end scenes twice so I could read the song lyrics and then just look at the scenes. Then after the credits had rolled I just sat there staring at the screen for a few minutes.
There is just one thing that I really don't understand about this ending... why was Liang suddenly attacked from all sides, out of the blue? Was there some context to this that I didn't pick up on, like there was a reason that they would think Liang was weak at this time, etc? Otherwise, it just didn't seem realistic or logical to me; it just seemed like a jarringly inserted plot device put in solely to give Lin Shu an amazing close to his story, going in a blaze of glory rather than burning out like an ember. That, honestly, is my only criticism of the show, so I hope there is a better explanation for it!
