He saw her family photograph before that, and saw her for the first time in the elevator If I remember correctly. So he knew how she looked.

i agree, add to that in the last episode, he mentions he also feel in love with her in the same elevator.

It was when ML's friend recognized her in the market. ML liked FL in the elevator, but didn't know it was her. He did see her pics before then but he didn't make that connection/didn't remember it was her. When in market ML's friend saw her, ML realised it was the same girl in the picture.
