I think Lily Alice (editor-in-chief) is abusing their power- simple as that.

They are pushing their articles up-front and refuse to publish editorials that have been waiting to be published for MONTHS. They also do not include their editorials in the spreadsheet Google form, where all other editorials are.

Other than that, they completely stopped publishing editorials written by MDL users, that are UNPAID.

If MDL writers won't get an answer in this forum thread, I will create a support ticket to obtain answers for this particular behavior that has been ongoing for a LONG time.

It's been months since I was last active on this site regarding the unfair treatment of the writers, and when I came back, I could see that the writers are treated even WORSE than before. I ask for a clarification of this issue, that has been ongoing for YEARS.

I totally agree. The quality of articles has dropped significantly recently. I miss the old homepage, where I would immediately click as soon as an article was published because they were all so interesting.

We’ve gone from in-depth, high-quality guides created by passionate users to an overload of useless gossip news. Please bring back articles like "An Ultra Fan Guide to XX Actor," "Currently Watching XX Drama," "Introduction to XX Genre," or "A Guide to XX." These were so much better than the gossip-filled content that now dominates the homepage. Please leave that to Soompi or Allkpop.

Quality is more important than quantity. For example, I don’t care if XX drama topped TV ratings. What I do care about is an analysis of why it’s good and why I should watch it, just like the old "Currently Watching" articles used to do.

Its sad to see what the article section of MDL has become ... :(

Exactly, like from a marketing point of view, the News section is doing absolutely terribly in terms of numbers. So...why keep them and not editorials which did humongous numbers in terms of views and likes? It simply doesn't make sense.

Also, this issue has been around for years, but we haven't heard from any admin and the admin's spokesperson only said that they're gonna ''relay'' the message to the admin, but it's been months and nothing has changed. Just like in real life politics, they try to reassure u that they are ''working'' on the problem, while they are having a vacation in Maldives lol.

I agree. I don’t even mind news articles that much, but the homepage could perfectly highlight one editorial and two news articles at any given time, so editorials could be published once a week and be highlighted in the homepage for that week. It makes no sense how MDL writers have to wait for so long to see their articles being published.

If that was the actual practice, it would also not be as foul to see an editorial from the editor in chief be published without following the process all other writers have to go through.

I didn't realize but did a check:
Last month, there were ONLY "NEWS" articles. It's concerning.
Few years ago, this place was full of life, with lot of quality articles.

The gossip articles have led to a situation where all news articles are getting less and less clicks. Why pay to have staff writers? These writers lo_ve and Lily_Alice are fundamentally Dispatch -type predatory celebrity gossip consumers.

I stopped my VIP -subscription for this reason. I want actors to have the ability to live normal lives without paparazzis trying to get footage of them doing something they can blow into a scandal.

Lily_Alice and lo_ve never care to read our, the users' and contributors', feedback. Because they are getting same message again and again: we don't want to know about actors' private lives.

They don't understand that not everyone wants to live in the gossip garbage bin. They're in too deep. They do not actually care about the dramas unlike us (if you check their watchlists you can clearly see this). Too busy reading gossip rags to watch dramas.
