Rhody401:
  • If she is not Mudon, then who is she?
  • Is there an explanation for how she ended up in Mudon's body?
  • How does she know that Mudon has not been intimate with her husband?
  • What illness did Mudon have, and could it be related to her entering Mudon's body?
  • Who is the other girl that entered or was reborn into Mudon's body?

I'm reading it now. Initially Mudan fell sick as a child and a 'shaman' told the He family that if Mudan married into the Liu family, she would get better. She did get better initially, but 6 months prior to the start of the events she got sick again. Its not outright stated as of yet, but its implied she was actually poisoned by the Princess, as her 'illness' relapsed at the same time the princess's husband died of illness. This is when the actual Mudan died, and the new Mudan woke up in her body.

I'm on chapter 76 and I'm convinced that Pan Rong is really out to sabotage Liu Chang.

Let's just say.... he's trying to keep him as an acquaintance, but truly is more of a friend to Mudan and JCY

Hi, first, let me thank you for always responding to me—I really appreciate it. I've been on this site for a while but never did much beyond checking out dramas and movies. Lately, though, I’ve been getting more comfortable exploring and interacting here. My next goal is to learn how to contribute to the site.

I hope you don’t mind, but I sent you a friend request.

About the novel—I stopped at chapter 2 because it didn’t align with the drama, but I plan to buy the book from China eventually. I enjoy collecting books, along with items from anime, manga, and dramas I love. It’s nice to keep these things because, who knows? Someday, they might be rare. I’d like to share them with my grandchildren someday so they can experience a bit of culture from different places. Oops, I guess I’m showing my age now!

Good 👍 on you 😊💐I don’t really read books 📕 nowadays but I love Chinese 🇨🇳 drama although I’m not Chinese! Yang Zi is an excellent Chinese actress 👍

How old is JCY?

I initially thought he was in his early 20's but now I'm wondering if he is actually in late 20's early 30's.

 Sheriziya:

@LucianYaz  Ah, I had totally forgotten about that. If I remember correctly, she first lived with Pan Rong and then came to JCY's place on Mudan's suggestion because Madam Bai was pregnant and having some difficulties?
Because neither one really saw her as a concubine, I totally forgot about it :D
In the series it's quite different though. But the whole series is more "inspired by" instead of a transformation from novel to series :D

Was she really a concubine though? She told Mudan she meant that as a joke, and that she just wanted to put up in a house somewhere....I'm on chapter 182, and its sounds like the plan is just to buy her indenturement and send her south to live. It also sounds like she was already working for JCY as a spy of sorts anyway.

🤩 wow, it sounded interesting but I liked the story in the tv shows 👍

They're both completely different stories honestly. Really I feel like the only thing in common is that its a story about a woman in a bad marriage who gets divorced, moves on with her life to grow peonies and falls in love with a man embroiled in palace politics. Everything else is so different, but so good. I love them both.

Exactly. But she was seen as a concubine by others who didn't know the true story.

Is there even a rebellion in the book? So I'm on chapter 258, and all I've gotten is Prince Jing is shady and the Emperor has grown fond of political games. But he is so secretive about it all. I feel bad for Mudan because actually kind of clear that JCY, his adoptive father, his mother, and his two servants all know what's going on but JCY thinks keeping Mudan in the dark keeps her happy.

As for the rebellion in the book.... Yes, there is. It's being spread out over time. IIRC it will become more clear later in the book.

You're welcome!
I'm looking forward to the second season as well!

Okay, I've finished everything but the epilogues.....So LC just gets away with everything? With dirt on the Jiang family? and nothing comes of it? And what rebellion? All I saw was 3 sons fighting for daddy's attention, and one throwing a tantrum that lasted only a paragraph.
