I don't know if I would make that leap, but like you pointed it out it's been a bit of generic stereotype shown in a lot of Korean Dramas. I think it's just like the, 'damsel in distress' portrayed in a lot of movies and dramas in the US. (I say US because that's where I'm from.) Even though, I did enjoy some dramas like this, I am happy to say that a lot of Korean Dramas have broken this mold!!
