I'm watching Justice In The Dark and cursing the censorship because that drama has me in the tightest chokehold and I need to see them flirting more so bad that I've started reading its novel as well; rip my sleep schedule

Bromance?  It has tags of a drama that I don't watch, lol. Thriller and Psycho! Never saw this on the radar, but I see the air date is old and not updated. It sounds like you like it!

Fight For Love EP 1-2

Started tonight and it's pretty good considering how rough VT dramas used to be. They've come a ways in the last several years. Since it's Vietnam there's no MDL page link to share. But it's on YT!

Cute guys, plot twists and fairly decent Eng. subs. I see a list of additional dramas in their description space.

 Indie Art Girl:

I've decided to pay closer attention to the directors, producers and writers of the dramas I'm watching, and hopefully understand a little more about their work and how dramas are made.  I even created a private pfp list to collect the names from my very favorite dramas.

The first thing I learned is the director of one of my top BLs, HIStory 3: Trapped, also did one of my top fav straight C-dramas (Hidden Love, for the curious) and a CW C-drama (also straight) that I'm enjoying. I was surprised and impressed. Plus the director is a woman. 💪

A plus: It might help me ID some of the better dramas based on who's behind the work and to try other dramas by the same people.

Does anyone have a favorite director or writer?

I don’t usually pay much attention to directors, maybe I should, but I do have a few favorite screenwriters. The writer of HIStory 3: Trapped, for instance, has worked on many of my favorite series. I tend to focus more on the actors, though. If someone’s performance catches my eye, I’ll be interested in any project they’re part of!

 p43425:

By coincidence, I've been doing my first-time watch of "Ai Long Nhai" and also lovin' it. While I'm sad about the end of Meen & Ping as a great CP, I strongly defend the right of actors to determine their own careers and lives - and in any case, new Thai CPs emerge to take the place in my heart of those that reach their inevitable end.

I totally agree with you! But my dramatic side can’t resist adding a bit of flair.   😇🤣 And that doesn’t mean they can’t work together again on another project. I’m so glad you’re loving Ai Long Nhai. It’s one of my all-time favorite series and definitely one of the ones I’ve rewatched the most!

Anyone watching The Bangkok Boy? Looks like it’s going to be a pretty intense and interesting series. The first episode had me glued to my seat the whole time. My only complaint was one character’s robotic voice. I really hope they improve the dubbing in the upcoming episodes...

Joined MDL Watch Challenge 2025 yesterday and I got 157 titles to watch this year. Most are movies and I got no clue how to find the majority of them (yet!). There are a few BL titles on the list and I'm gonna rewatch 2 movies I liked as well.

Have you guys joined the challenge? I really want to complete it all but wonder if I have the time/resources.

The Bangkok Boy - episode 1

I was not hooked. I did not really enjoy this first episode.

There were a lot of fight scenes, no great deal of blood though; just scratches and trails of blood from cuts to the forehead at most. @Indie Art Girl

The use of English irritated me because it sounded like AI

I will wait for the leads to meet to really get a feel on things, so I look forward to episode 2.

I'm so glad that my credibility is not destroyed you're enjoying it.

While Vietnam is making things mainly for the domestic market and its tastes (which can also often be lakorny), I think it depends largely on the studio - for example, RL Studio is very different from O2.

 Indie Art Girl:

RL Studios does cute 'n fluffy, low-budget but generally sweet. Until "Fight For Love", definitely their best production to date, my faves were "Stupid Boys, Stupid Love" (low-budget but cute school BL with super sweet story of young first love) and "Stupid Genius" (not so great as a BL but very sweet group-of-school-friends comedy).

I think these grew out of The Bang's (cute, funny, largely BL) amateur Tiktok videos from a few years back, if anyone is familiar with them.

 dora569:
yay for both boys in love and my stubborn tomorrow!

Yes to both!

"My Stubborn" is a (hot) mess, not least because of the excessive cast of characters. If anyone is looking for my long post following episode 1, with all the characters as well as a few other clarifications, it's on page 1854. (Speaking for myself, I will definitely review these notes before today's episode 2, as otherwise it's very hard to make sense of it.)

There's a website for the Xiao Zhan 227 situation. I am going to read all of it, so far I only read the "A special message for the Untamed fans" section. I'm no longer WYB's fan (and was I ever?) and I don't know if I should watch his movies anymore. 2 of his movies are in my MDL Watch 2025 challenge.

Read the entire page. What happened to Xiao Zhan is heartbreaking.

Replaced WYB's movies in my challenge with other CN series. No longer WYB's fan but I never really was, was I? I kinda was into YiZhan though. I feel guilty about it now. :(

I also just finished the first episode and I agree that it looks very interesting and definitely an intense ride . I will say that there’s a lot of set up for the general plot of the series in this episode. I’m hoping that we get into the plot more starting from next episode. But it makes sense even from the description with the whole revenge on the father‘s death so there would be a lot of set up for that, but we’ll have to wait.

I literally couldn’t tell if the English was actually them speaking English or if it was just like horrible AI dubbing.

What did you think? I don’t think it’s as bad as some people are saying. Some parts with Heesu’s character were so good I cried. But overall the show did not meet expectations.

I was disappointed with the live drama. I'd read the manhwa ages ago, and was excited when the live drama was announced.

Then there were the rumours about it being a het drama; then it had an additional het couple. Then came the delays in releasing it, meaning there were some issues, but we don't know with what (censorship?). Did the kiss have to be removed because the actors were minors, etc.?

Not sure where this fascination with the stars and the universe came from; it was kind of annoying, if not irrelevant to me.

The drama had all that build-up, and we never saw what followed, which is part of the charm of the manhwa. The live drama ending left me feeling non-plussed. It felt more like an ensemble piece than the romance it should have been.

What I did like is how the sister was nonchalant about Hee-Su's confession.  In the manhwa, they all panic initially, but not in front of him and then when they meet his boyfriend, they realise they have nothing to worry about.  I like they kept the calm aspect of it.

On its own, the live drama is fine. The crime here is calling it an adaptation of the manhwa and then not delivering the same feel and messing up the story. They really didn't play to their audience on this one.

I don't know if this is allowed here

I'm not the group owner, but speaking for myself, I would prefer that the group not be misused for this purpose.
