On the topic of BOTW, yes it was all over the place but i still enjoyed it. The NC scenes were great but cut once it aired on YouTube. Very disappointing.
I actually enjoy a lot of BLs that I know are poorly made. If I’m not bored and there are fun elements I still don’t mind watching it. I just finished Unforgotten Night which was a hot mess yet i couldn’t stop watching. I have started Chains of Heart because it stars Boom Raweewit but i don’t know if it has any redeeming qualities or not.
Do you have any BLs you like even though you know they’re bad?

If I think a drama is bad then I'm also not liking it for whatever reason and it gets dropped.

One that comes to mind cuz it's generally not well-liked and the rating is low, but I don't think it's bad is Secret Crush On You. I thought it was quirky and funny.

@GMMTV: Please be reminded that my offer below is still open. I would like to insert an additional provision into the contract that Lego must be wearing this puppy thing on at least one of our dates.

would you give me permission to message gmmtv on instagram about this idea? they've read my message before on williamest.

tbh i forget im in this forum, ive been like very sleepy and out of it since im  still sick

 Indie Art Girl:

Is this a BL?

Sorry this is not a BL just a sitcom with Mile and Bible, although Mile’s character is listed as bisexual so we can always hope. That was stated in the official press release.

That one is on my tbw list, which is excessiv.e. lol. Maybe “bad” wasn’t the right word but I used to refuse to watch any bl rated less than a 7.0 but I discovered a few that had really low ratings that I still really liked. For example, Be Mine Superstar and Bump Up Business.

As far as dropping shows, I am compulsive about finishing even the ones I don’t like, but sometimes I put them on hold for awhile or watch them in small pieces.

FYI, I don‘t work for health reasons and I don’t have kids. (Yes, I am probably much older than most of you.) So I have a lot of time on my hands and I mainly fill it with BLs. So I can adore the good ones and enjoy the rest too.

I wondered what was up! Feel better soon!!!

Oh ok...I wondered. 😊

@Mr. P - Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island. I'm halfway and loving it. Both MLs are so natural. Xiao Zhi is just too adorable for his own good! Hard to believe this is their first drama.

With the music, setting, coloring, food references etc, it's a great comfort drama. Very artistically done in the best understated way. It may be why the subtitles are so small. Plus the main font on the intro and outtro pages are very nice but barely legible. I can see the subs fine, but they come and go so fast, lol.

And the sweet unassuming touches here and there. **sigh**....I want that, whatever they have! 🩷

Both were actually fairly decent. I like when a low rated drama turns out to be a surprise!

That's a nice 'tude to have. I'm more like why waste my time on smth I don't like when I can be watching smth much better. 😆 🤣

Me, too. The story was a garbled mess, but I've totally adored Tutor & Yim ever since Nuer & Syn in "Cutie Pie". I really wish they would get the script that they deserve.

Yes indeed - and we've had some good discussions in this group about our favourite BL trainwrecks. I'm generally ready to overlook a lot of weaknesses for what I like (not to mention cuties). And yes, I likewise very much enjoyed "Unforgotten Night" (once I decided to watch it as  a spoof rather than a serious mafia story), "Middleman's Love" (once I got past the first two awful episodes), "Secret Crush On You" (such a sweet group-of-friends dynamic), "Be Mine Superstar", "Bump Up Business" - and yes, I admit it: "Playboyy", too.

Here's a re-post of something I wrote on page 1816 (too long to use "quote"):

I'm really enjoying our shared confessions of our most beloved trainwrecks. Although I've seen most of the mentioned titles already (and mostly also loved them myself), it's also given me a nudge about a few titles still languishing in my PTW queue, such as "Ai Long Nhai". Although Mean & Ping may not be the world's greatest actors, I love 'em, plus it's got Save Saisawat and other cuties, so thanks to your encouragement, I'm starting on it right now!
ETA: Now finished the first episode. Love at first sight is one of my favourite tropes!

Here's another nuance of BL Trainwreck Theory, again having to do with starting expectations. I totally love "1000 Years Old" for being so endearing cute, hilariously funny and quirky, and also quite touching - the unique ending still gets me totally in tears! (No, it's not sad per se, but it's very touching, and also an entirely different ending than any other BL.) When the series was first airing, I initially thought it was so awful because I was expecting a serious vampire BL, but once I reprogrammed myself to think of it as a cute, quirky, low-budget spoof, my perceptions totally changed and by about the third or fourth episode, I totally fell in love with it. OK, I know the series has faults - other than Axdxex, I'm probably the only fan in this group - but as with many of my beloved trainwrecks, the pluses (at least for me) far outweigh the minuses, especially as I view the series  through the right lens.

Like Art Girl and RXinw, I also loved "Why R U?" (Thai original), despite its considerable flaws - and most of these are the result of production being shut down by the pandemic, so it hardly seems fair to hold these against the rating (which I didn't: I gave it a defiant 10 stars!). I also have special place in my heart for this series and the subsequent "Cutie Pie" as the historical origin of Domundi/Mandee as we know it today and their three long-time pairings that I feel so deeply connected to: Max/Nat, Zee/Nunew, and most of all my dearly beloved Tutor/Yim. (Speaking of trainwrecks, I'll automatically love anything they're in, although "Middleman's Love" was a bit of a stretch.)
