BL Challenge Day 6: The most underrated BL of 2025 so far

I haven't seen anyone talking about 'My Sweet Brother-in-law' which i think i watched on Youtube. It is a Vietnamese BL which was pretty unique to start with. But I didn't really want to watch it because I thought it would be a cheating storyline which i never like but the twists were unexpected and it really hit me in the feels. A few tears were shed and there were only 5 episodes which seemed way too few and I want to see their story continue

I loved this one! It looks like they’re setting it up for a second season so I’m hopeful.

yall i was looking through the cast and crew section  of Revenged love because I wanted to see what DouDou real name was and I noticed a voice actor section. I knew chi cheng voice was being dubbed but I didn't know Wang Zhen, Wang Shuo, Yue Yue, Jiang Xiao shuai, and Chengyu were dubbed too.

School has started and I am so busy I have not been here that much so here are the days I missed for the BL Challenge.

Day 6: The most underrated BL of 2025 so far

I am not really sure if I have one I have mainly watched popular Bls because I have am fairly recent to bl.

Day 7: Favorite first kiss scene of all time

I have to pick the first kiss in Last Twilight. I remember seeing that for the first time and I was in tears and fell in love with JimmySea.

also i'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed the omegaverse nods. i feel like it had to be intentional, if i remember correctly the ABO tire at least shows up 2-3 times

Yeah! If I’m remembering right, there’s a scene where Chi Cheng and Guo Cheng Yu are talking, and the ABO tire is right in the middle of the shot. It totally looks intentional, but since I haven’t seen anyone mention it, I wasn't sure.

 Indie Art Girl:
I hope u get some rest & relaxation!

Thanks! 🥰

 dora:
but I am just so impressed by this show already. I

Same here! I'm loving it. I was really looking forward to this series, and so far it’s totally exceeded my expectations. I especially liked how they used the song Am I in Love in one of Trin's (Apo's) scenes. It felt like we were hearing his actual thoughts:"I think I love you... I don't know what's happened to me... Am I in love, love, la-la-love?"

 YamaKen:
movie called The Blue Hour

I’d never heard of The Blue Hour before, but if Gun Atthaphan is one of the leads, that’s already a good sign it’ll be worth watching. He’s one of my favorite actors. I’ve added it to my watchlist!

 RXinw:
I cannot do this review without bringing up Suo Wei's mother

I loved your take on the series. WSW’s mom’s death hit really close to home for me, bringing back a lot of memories. That whole scene was handled with so much care by all the actors. And she was just so sharp and compassionate. She understood Chi Cheng and WSW’s relationship without them having to say a word. She knew WSW wasn’t ready to come out to her, but she made sure they knew she accepted it, and gave them her blessing to Chi Cheng. She even gently tried to give WSW the chance to open up about Chi Cheng, but without pressuring him and respecting his moment.

I think everyone's dubbed unless clearly stated they aren't in C-Dramas. So I know Wu Suo Wei is not dubbed, but the rest are.

Very cool, hope you enjoy! It's my favorite work by Gun Atthaphan, the second one being either The Gifted or Not Me. I also liked Midnight Museum quite a bit. His duality in playing multiple people is really something!

Wait, so you guys do not watch with subtitles?

I am glad you and @dora find something in my incessantly long posts that you like lol

I must apologise to the wider group for subjecting you to my long sometimes boring posts (this me apologising while warning of future long post since I plan to start Shine very soon.)

Guys for some reason the old Monster High theme song is playing in my head lol

Question, are there any old school Winx Club fans in here? Please DM me, I need to vent to someone!

Why are so many BL fan-meets happening in Brazil as of recently?Toptap Jirakit is the newest hire at Mflow Entertainment, producer of ‘My Stubborn’ and other BLs.

No, they dub the original Chinese. I looked it up and this is a popular way with many shows to create a uniform Mandarin accent throughout and apparently cheaper to have a full separate voice cast than to record the sound as they film the show.

so for all of you who love the untamed, those are not the actors‘ voices.

i don’t know how a show decides whether to use the original actors voices or not but check the full cast because the voice actors are listed if it’s dubbed. According to my research dubbing is especially used for period dramas but Revenged Love and ABO Desire were both dubbed as well.

Yes, exactly. It's hard for English speakers to grasp the extent of dialect variation in Chinese, even to the point of mutual unintelligibility. And even if Chinese viewers can understand the actor's dialect without any problem, it's glaring for Chinese speakers that the actors can't possibly be from the same place where the drama is supposedly taking place.

With China now so rich, I'm not sure that being cheaper is still so much of a driver, at least for big-budget productions, but Chinese viewers are used to dubbing, so here we are.

At least the dubbing is "Revenged Love" is reasonably well done. In some low-budget Chinese productions, it's truly awful.

BL Challenge Day 8: Most aesthetically pleasing NC scene

Hmmm. I think I'll just defer to the expert on this one. @RXinw, it's all yours.

Honestly I see why they dubbed the chinese but it throws me off bc that means the voices I hear aren't them so it's hard for me to listen to them(like actual voices

Opposite for me. I never notice dubbing. It just goes over my head. I read the subs and listen to everything at the same time. 😂
