Lost in Kyoto
for a short drama this was good, although a bit confusing. I liked the premise, the chemistry, and the general ambiance of the show. I was never quite sure if we were watching the film within the film or not, though. That was my biggest complaint. The ending was nice. I would have liked a bit more of a conclusion but it was adequate for a show of this length. Also, the NC scene was short but fire.

so a new BL just started called The Luminous Begins. Right now it requires membership to the YouTube channel to watch but maybe it will come to Gaga later.

When I looked it up I saw that it was a prequel so I decided to watch the first one. I found it on Gaga but it think it’s also on YouTube. (The free YouTube version is cut so you miss the few NC scenes.)
it has a very low rating and a lot of complaints on the MDL page but I gave it a 7.5. I enjoyed a lot of it. It tells the story of a high school couple and an adult couple facing challenges and trying to deal with them. there is also this magical cafe where people can go and make a wish.
positives: the couples had great chemistry, they were nice to look at, the acting was pretty good, and the issues they deal with are realistic and portrayed well. There is a great plot twist near the end that helps everything make more sense and integrates the magical elements into the story.
negatives: the magic part doesn’t really seem to fit into most of the story, and is only really explained in the last episode. There is also a side story about a single mom and her son that seems unrelated and confusing and unnecessary. As for the main plot. I don’t really like cheating stories or stories about being unable to accept being gay so those were upsetting even if well-done. but i Was satisfied with the resolution. It really made me think if I would choose to erase someone’s memory of me if I had hurt them badly. i don’t think I would make that choice, and as the person who has gotten hurt a lot in the past, I still wouldn’t want those memories erased just to avoid the pain. I liked that the show raised such an interesting question.
overall my semi-low rating was mainly based on plot holes and confusing story elements. Also it’s only a 6 episode series yet it took me until the middle of episode 2 to care about the characters. But I liked the characters and their journeys.
the story was also different than anything else I’ve seen and I liked that.
there is kissing but the NC scenes are very limited.
overall I would recommend this show but with certain reservations.
