Romancing the Ghost
You Are My Present
i finished both these short-form dramas. First of all, I don’t love short-form. Everything feels abrupt unless it’s done really well. I’ve actually watched quite a few short-form dramas and a lot of them are disappointing, as were these two. They both had potential but the stories did not have enough substance. UpPoom are still great actors but I feel like all the good reviews for You Are My Present are because people love UpPoom, not the story. Frankly, I didn’t think they had enough to work with.
As far as Romancing the Ghost, they threw in some NC scenes instead of developing the romance. This one had a more interesting concept and more interesting characters but the story was too abbreviated as was the ending.
i also find it really annoying that the short-form apps/channels charge so much and provide such limited content. I normally try to pay if possible to show fan support and encourage the production of more BLs but I cannot bring myself to keep paying for short-form. I don’t want more of them! But I have FOMO about BLs and end up trying to watch way too many. I don’t feel like it’s a waste of time, but i definitely prefer a drama to have At least ten-minute episodes, or to be able to watch it all in one sitting.
i will try to remind myself this the next time I get sucked into a short-form drama that is still airing or costs a lot.
