To be honest it got a little boring towards the end for me but the two special episodes in Our Skyy 2 was fun. It's not a continuation. Its basically if their positions were reversed (fourth as school president and gemini as the head of the music club) so it can be watched as a stand alone and it hits all the original beats of the drama but in two episodes so imo it's better than the original series just based on time management.

Oh this sounds interesting I will check it out thank you.

Also when I opened the show page an old article popped up about top bromances (Chinese). I believe they are all censored adaptations of BL originals. Anyway, I wanted to keep track of them so I made a new lists. (Yes, I love making lists.) if anyone’s interested here is the list:

hiiii everyone!

i was traveling for a bit so i'm catching up on posts from the group (kind of, there's a lot lol i skipped some pages)

@Dora i'm sorry to hear about your back, i really hope you feel better soon!! looks like you already got tons of recs so i won't come at you with another whole list lol. but for me whenever i want to watch something that'll keep me entertained + comforted, i can always rely on a studio ghibli movie. just don't pick grave of the fireflies (great movie, just NOT a happy watch). i also have quite a few comfort animated shows or comedy shows that i tend to go back to but those are all off mdl

@new members welcome to the club!!

my trip was fantastic but i am absolutely exhausted. and i did a ton of hiking and climbing with my busted toe which surprisingly enough did not make it get better lol. but i'm excited to get back to bl watching while i get some rest.

i'm planning on finishing up A Good Yesterday, probably tomorrow, which i've been liking so far despite only having poorly done, auto-translate subtitles available for english. it's nothing ground breaking but the story is interesting enough and the characters look and feel a bit more grounded than what you typically find in the ultra-polished bl's that get put out by big companies. i'm a little confused with some parts of the plot but it's hard to tell if that's coming from the writing or the poorly translated subtitles lol. tonight i'll either keep watching Only Friends Dream On or start Yesterday :)

question for people caught up with Only Friends S2: have we gotten any kisses outside of the set couples? bc S1 had everyone (especially Boston) kissing everyone but at least in the 4 eps i've seen, we've gotten none of that. i'm just curious if i should expect that to continue lol

Behind the Shadows

I will check them out and add them to the list! Thanks for the suggestions.

I should probably specify exactly what I count as a bromance. I think it will only be shows with homerotic subtext and not explicitly stated feelings. So I think that leaves out Behind the Shadows. I’m not sure about a few others on my list because they’re on Gaga so what does that say? But we’ll see as I watch them I guess.

@iota

Welcome back.mHope you enjoyed your trip! (And that your toe gets better.) My wife/spouse loves studio ghibli so I’ve seen a bunch of those movies repeatedly. I think her favorite is Howl’s Moving Castle. She loves animated movies in general but doesn’t watch much actual anime. We canceled our crunchyroll subscription because we weren’t watching it enough. Plus we have pretty much every streaming service and it adds up.

I watched a lot of movies when I was younger (in my twenties, especially) but I now prefer shows because I can get to know characters and have them in my life for awhile. Sometimes I even put off finishing shows because I don’t want to say goodbye.

Re: Only Friends: Dream On

No, there are no kisses outside of the established couples. We were discussing why that was, and thought maybe Thai audiences preferred only the established couples being together. The chaos of season one was definitely more in the style of a Western show. One of my friends compared it to Queer as Folk. Still, Only Friends: Dream On has been pretty good despite being so different from season 1.

For sure!

I just found a new challenge that doesn't require much except a once a month decision. It should be fun!

OMG! I just saw an ad on Netflix for an international release of The Red Envelope. It’s coming April 24!

I loved "Red Envelope", most of all on the strength of Billkin & PP Krit. (It's been on Netflix Germany for a while now. I don't know why it's only now coming to the U.S. - maybe some license issue?)

It's hard to compare to the original Taiwanese "Marry My Dead Body", which I also loved, because they're rather different. The Thai remake (being Thai) is heavier on the comedy.

Both are highly recommended!

Let's Eat Together

@Dora: "Let's Eat Together" (Japanese) is problematic to categorise because S1 is bromance (by your definition), but the end of S2 finally blossoms to overt BL. (I wasn't so keen on either series, even though I'm totally fine with a good bromance, but many others seemed to really like them.)

Of the other titles, I've only seen "Precise Shot", which is definitely Chinese bromance (by your definition). I thought it was reasonably good.

There's a S2 ???

ETA: I found the drama page and put it on my PTW list

Precise Shot is a guilty pleasure of mine. And when I want a reminder of dental hygiene right after I eat. 😂

New JBL starting May 27: "Hyakunichigo ni Wakareru Boku to Kare" = "100 Days Until We Break Up" (not yet on MDL). Looking promising, with an original and interesting story involving an established relationship. Not sure about international platform, but hopefully Gaga.

I think this is the same production company that is coming out with Fake Fact Lips. Not sure though.

Could be. The director of "100 Days", Kusano Shogo, also directed "Kieta Hatsukoi" ("My Love Mix-Up"), which was a real winner, so that significantly boosts my confidence.
