I'm curious about your choice !

It's late night and finally have time to watch at least one ep of smth...but undecided. I do have to finish Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars soon...

Otherwise it's between 2 titles: Flower Boy & Journey With You. Is one better than the other?

Journey With You is ten times better than Flower Boy in my opinion. But I'm also a sucker for the rebirth trope and historical c-dramas. πŸ˜…

I watched half of Flower Boy and didn't watched Journey With You but I think Journey With You is better (I'm waiting to binge-watch)

I've watched ep 1 to 9 of Flower Boy, it's very average. Wouldn't recommend it.

This is where all information is from

Mental health issues can affect everyone but unfortunately individuals part of LGBTQIA+ is more likely to face them, me included. This is due to social isolation, discrimination, violence, and rejection among other reasons.

Mental health

1 in 2 had experienced depression

3 in 5 had experienced anxiety

LGBTQIA+ individuals are 1.5 x more likely to develop depression or anxiety

1 in 8 aged 18-24 had attempted suicide

1 in 2 transgender individuals had suicidal thoughts

4 in 5 transgender individuals have experienced suicidal ideation

2 in 3 transgender individuals have experienced depression

2 in 5 students have a mental health disorder

1 in 2 LGBTQIA+ young individuals self harm

1 in 2 have insufficient opportunities to connect with other people

LGBTQ+ young people who attended schools where students were very accepting of LGBTQ+ people attempted suicide at less than half the rate of those in schools where students were not accepting. This is one of the most powerful evidence points for the role that school bullying prevention, inclusive education, and supportive environments play in protecting LGBTQ+ young lives.

I feel disgusted at how high these statistics are when they shouldn't be. A great way to lower these statistics is information, information age appropriate at all ages and access to this information.

Due to government laws all schools in the UK has to teach sex education which included healthy relations, red flags in relationships, periods and pregnancy, healthy sex (including consent using this video using Tea. I loved that video ) and not once was LGBTQIA+ was explained fully only what LGBT letters stood for. That's it. A place where you are supposed to be able to get reliable information but get nothing. Now imagine in that classroom, you are trying to process where you fit in with no external help and you're part of LGBTQIA+.

An open letter (desperate plea) to @P'Aoftion:

Tutor and Yim will both turn 26 this summer. Their biological clocks are ticking. Please give them a really good, serious, well-written, non-stupid-comedy BL love story drama before they reach their sell-by date.

("ChermChey" has some good moments, but I'm getting really triggered by the incredibly annoying comedy sound effects.)

What age do you think BL actors should stop acting. Come to think of it most BL actors I watch and follow is all below 35 I think

"Should"? Hmmm.

I would like to think that the ones who are really good actors (and not just cute faces) could progress to dramas about later stages in life, which could be BL or otherwise. (I believe in respect for good actors as professionals and for their right to career self-determination. Yeah, I'm naive.)

ETA: Fluke Natouch, now over 30 (geriatric in the Thai BL world), is still my #1 and most extra dearly beloved, thus proving that I'm not ageist. To me, he is forever young.

I think most BL actors enter this genre to break into the industry with plans to expand their cinematography after establishing a fan base. When I went to the PondPhuwin LA fan meet, Phuwin even mentions wanting to do more work other than BL (he put it more delicately by saying romance). Really I don't think there is an age limit per say but because it seems like half of all BLs tend to be school dramas of some sort, the industry might think they need mostly younger actors.

I never looked at the numbers but I'm guessing a lot of school dramas preform better than the alternatives. πŸ€” If that's true I can see it because out of all the BLs I'm watching only Your Dear Daddy, The Lie We Lived In, Payback, Love of Silom, LUAT, FFL, A Dog and a Plane are probably the only ones I consider worth watching in the non school dramas. Out of the 27 BLs mind you. Though I do love CC because chemistry! Liking it doesn't make it good however, and right now I haven't determined if the plot is good. (not watched the new episode yet). And even LUAT starts in university and ends with him in university so maybe considered a school drama too?

Look at Japan for reference .BL is not just for the young. Thailand kind of ties their BL industry to idols and markets it more to the youth which does not have to change. People make old man yaoi jokes but they can tap into a whole new market geared to a different audience as well .

I think a lot of BL shows tend to have characters that should realistically be played by older actors but we suspend disbelief and let it go.

It is all about the writing and story. They are actors at the end of the day . There are many phases of life and so many stories to portray . There really is no limit and actors should grow and mature in my opinion. Actors should quit/retire because they want to not because of an age cap.

I know Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island was appreciated by many. The new BL A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream from the same creator will be released on Friday 12th. I post about it one or two weeks ago because I loved the poster, now there is new one which I also love.

I only watched 30 seconds of the trailer and it's already so beautiful !

I really would wish we would get more BLs with yes older actors/couples. I think when BLs started getting more popular pre-post pandemic a lot of the fan base (millennials) were still in their twenties, so I don't think a lot of ppl paid attention to the age of the actors or the shows characters. However while I assume gen Z is now driving the BL popularity even higher, the genre now also has fan base that are in their 30s or even early 40s.

I just finished Life in Smokey Blue and the show for me was probably one of the most enjoyably BL's in a long time, bc it resonated so much with the phase I am in my life right now. Since Thailand is still the biggest producer of BL shows I am hoping the industry would start considering more age diversity with the shows. Of course entertainment industry in general has always been pretty focused on young good looking actors and shows that suit them, but I do think there is a demand for some variety.

Thanks for the feedback. I was originally unsure if the story interested me, but hearing such positive comments from you and others has pushed it into my PTW list.

For me, this was probably several life phases back, haha.

"Appreciated" is an understatement: It was magically good. I will definitely watch "Winter Sun" (Gaga).
