Finally, I'm watching High School Frenemy, and I'm really enjoying it.

It's nice to see so many familiar faces. I also like that the show spends some time focusing on the teachers, which isn't something I see very often in Thai BLs. I only realized it was a remake of School 2013 when I saw it mentioned in the opening credits because I hadn't paid much attention to the MDL page. I had watched one or two episodes of the original more than ten years ago, and when the chair crashed through the classroom window in High School Frenemy, I immediately remembered the same scene from School 2013.

I really need to know what happened between Saint and Shin in the past, it must have been something really bad. I also hope the flashbacks tell us exactly how many years ago it happened, probably three, since Saint said he hasn't hurt anyone since then.

The show explains everything well. It’s really good.

Chadjen(Mark) will always have a special place in my heart from that series. 🥰❤️🥹💕💖

Saygo:
Hectic! The root of the problem is Idol Factory here. They clearly are shady because it is their responsibility to handle such matters. What is the point of being signed to a company otherwise.

This is my takeaway as well.

Based on the situation described Idol Factory is running what we Jamaicans would call a patty shop; meaning they are inept and unprofessional in their operations and administration. I find it unprofessional as well as unethical for artists to sign with them and have to depend on third parties to a contract to receive payments. I would assume that both Billy and Babe would have signed individual contracts with the company. Therefore for Idol Factory to pay Billy and expect him to subsequently pay Babe as if Babe was subcontracted by him raises a red flag to me. I would love to see the contents of those contracts because this situation gives the impression that there is no concrete framework for compensation in those contracts.

Double Helix - episodes 9 & 10

It was interesting how they went about portraying these crucial episodes.

I was left underwhelmed to say the least.

I will wait on the finale to give my final thoughts.

Official Trailer Don't Be Too Emotional: start on June 26th.

I was waiting for this one !

Indie Art Girl:
Here's a trailer for Stand BI Me

Looking at this trailer I could have easily guessed it's the same creator as His Man that looks good I will probably watch it every week.

Indie Art Girl:

I was looking through drama pages doing some updating and came across someone's comment that Surf & Java would be perfect replacements for Winny & Satang in My Professional Boyfriend.

I love that idea and hope GMMTV does too! 👏 😊 🙏

I can totally picture that !

Hopefully every questions will be answered soon. I agree it's really good.

Omg I cannot wait 🥰🤭❤️💕💖😍

I think this is looking to be a year of toxic Thai BLs coming for the Chinese ones that have been pretty successful. Let's see will this get as toxic as Yesterday was. 😅

Another June BL I'm looking forward to but will wait til it's finished airing.

The Edge of Horizon on June 20. That's 3 new BLs releasing on the same day!
The other 2 are Lost to Light and Zantiis Miss You.

Today's drama updates!

The Lie We Lived In: Wow, I was so worried about these two episodes for a week because the first 2 eps were so good I thought it was too good to be true. But man, 3 & 4 were also fantastic imo!

Fix The Error!: it's fine. The plot is interesting.

Love Class 3: The episodes are just short enough and the acting make this worth watching. Kind of digging all the different plots of each couple too. As it goes on I feel more invested 😅

Check in to You: Still campy and by the books but the short episodes are easy to watch and only one more episode next week to wrap it all up. This isn't worth watching if you value quality though.

Fourever You S2: I have loved getting to know their back story. 🤌 But I'm so excited to see the plot beyond their moments in FY S1. ☺️ This is already my favorite of all the FY story plots.

Thats all I have time for today. I'll have to watch Fake Fact Lips and Lost to You during my breaks and lunch at work. 😮‍💨 Not to mention all the C-dramas and GLs I have to watch. But with only 1 day off a week I know most of Fridays and Saturdays updates will be watched Sunday and Monday. I love my job but the hours are crazy 😂

hiiii it's been a little bit since i've been in here, i've missed you guys!!! hope everyone's been doing good 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

here's a quick round up of what i've been watching:

Soul Mate | 9.5★ LOVED this omg it was so good. will absolutely be keeping an eye on this director in the future. i saw people having some mixed feelings about what the nature of their relationship was and i think there's definitely room for interpretation but for me, i read it as a gay romance. and a really good one :)

Dive, La Vie | 8.5★ not a bl but a very fun movie with queer characters and a couple bl actors. Keng and Nunew both gave great perfomances. i won't spoil too much but Keng is fr so funny in this movie. i'd def recommend giving it a watch, just be wary as they do make some fatphobic jokes :/

Phallus: The Man | ???★ Love Exposure is up there in my top favorites so i was super excited to see that Sion Sono directed a gay pinku film. and it certainly was... an experience. most of it was entertaining and strange and horny - exactly what i was looking forward to. but there was also a reoccurring character in really egregious blackface and that is just not something i can really look past. yuck. so overall i deem this one: disappointing.

Love Like a Bike | 7.0★ i really appreciate what this series set out to do with platforming various important messages and centering a conversation around mental health. but i think it can be really difficult to have in depth conversations about heavier topics while still sticking to the typical thai bl format of being an idealistic romance. i think ultimately this show was trying to do a little too much. 3 couples, 6 main characters, and trying to cover multiple different serious topics between all of them in just 8 episodes. there was a lot going on but not much of it felt fleshed out enough to really be that engaging to me. but with that said, no matter what it's always difficult to talk about the things that this show brought up - mental health, trauma, abuse, cancer/illness, rights for sex workers, etc. - so i really do them give them points for even speaking on these topics and trying to make space for conversation about them. i think that's really important and the writing was headed in the right direction, i just think the show would've benefited from a little bit more focus. the main character, Sailom, struggled with a severe fear of physical touch stemming from childhood abuse. his specific condition is not one that i know too much about so i can't really speak to the accuracy in its portrayal in the show. however just based on my experience, most mental health issues are not as easily and neatly resolved as his were in the show. again, i think this is where the typical style of idealism kind of clashes with these sorts of conversations. it's tough to have a grounded discussion of difficult topics while also trying not to challenge audiences too much emotionally. to be clear, i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to try and strike this balance, it's just a hard thing to do well. okay on to my less serious thoughts, i started this series pretty much just to see TaUs together and was not disappointed. i feel kinda bad but i really just could not vibe with the other two couples. idk what it was, they just weren't my thing. but i'll definitely be looking out for (hopefully) more series with TaUs and manifesting an idyllic throuple life for the three of us :D

other than that i'm still (sort of) making my way through Last Twilight, which has unfortunately kind of lost my interest. i have absolutely no idea what i'll start next, but i'm excited to find out!

i'm a bit slow on bl watching rn because i'm prioritizing my queer movie watchlist for pride month. just for fun, i'll speed run what else i've watched so far this month:

  1. Promare - bromance, incredible animation, a fun time

  2. Crash (1996) - both disturbing and enlightening, i absolutely loved it. please please more of james spader kissing men.

  3. Big Boys - horribly painfully awkward coming of age, very endearing. i'm now desperately in need of a bear for bear romance movie.

  4. The Clan's Heir is Trans Woman - way better than i thought it would be, this was actually really sweet and pretty thoughtful (although a bit clunky) trans representation. more cis allies need to dress in full drag and go kill transphobes with a sword. be the change you want to see.

  5. Mysterious Skin - very grounded and well done approach to talking to about childhood abuse and its ramifications. unfortunately (due to my own negligence) i went into this wholly unprepared. genuinely nauseating experience but i think a very important movie.

  6. Red, White & Royal Blue - needed to watch something emotionally safe and easy to recover from what Gregg Araki put me through, this was exactly what i needed. an easy, fun, gay time.

  7. Butch Camp - very fun, a bit outrageous, a little offensive, and very queer. i liked it.

  8. Rotting in the Sun - gay comedy thriller with the most dicks i've ever seen in one piece of media (this includes everything i've ever watched before). highly recommend.

Life in Smokey Blue

Done! I couldn't sleep so I finished it in the middle of the night. That might be why I found it a bit depressing. It was slow, which I don't mind, but it also felt aimless at times. I liked the couple but not the story so much.

It was an ok watch but nothing to rave about. I wouldn't rec it to others, especially since there are better JBLs out there.

So many cigarette scenes! No wonder the title has "smokey blue" in it. Or it's referencing the blues, emotional-wise. Prob both, lol.

ETA: I liked that towards the end Kuji opened up and even cried, knowing he was accepted and included in Azuma's family and life. And when he also put his arms around Azuma, unlike the beginning, when he kept pushing him away.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions 🤔

I have wrapped up my Kdrama binge watches of Perfect Crown and Why Her?. I am now deciding what to watch next. I am stuck between two choices:

  1. Go back to binge watching completed BLs starting with either Goddess Bless You from Death or Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island.

  2. Continue binge watching series outside of BL by diving into Legend of the Female General.

What to do 🤔

I've seen both Litchi Island and Female General! Both are amazing! SHOTLI would certainly be a good followup to the intense war drama of Female General. Or a nice rotation if u need a break from a more intense drama.
