p43425:
Hubba hubba!
I see a newly posted Youtube trailer for "Water Boyy Drip", supposedly airing 17 July on a new Thai platform called "BloomHD". Not yet listed on MDL. No proper English subtitles, just auto-translate.
I have no idea if there will be English subtitles or if it'll be available on an international platform, but gosh, this trailer has me speechless (in a steamy-soft-porn-with-stunning-cuties kind of way).
From the trailer, I see no connection to the old GMMTV "Water Boyy" series other than the name.
@RXinw: This is definitely one for you.
@Art Girl: Cover your eyes, this is nothing for you.
Following the recent trailer for "Water Boyy Drip" starting July 17 (above), Bloom HD has posted a second Youtube trailer for "JUMP the Series: Revolution", likewise starting July 17. This one also seems to basically be trashy soft porn, hubba hubba.
I'm not sure why both are starting on the same day, but I'm guessing that they're trying to promote a new streaming platform (bloomhd.com).
Years ago, there was supposed to be a BL called "Jump" which never happened. If there is any connection, it's tenuous. Other than this obsolete listing, I don't see anything on MDL.
@Art Girl (pure and innocent): Not for you.
@RXinw (not so innocent): For you.
Starting today on Viki (and supposedly also on Gaga in a few days, delay presumably for technical reasons): "Your Summer, My Storm" (Japan).
It's not tagged on Viki as BL, but from the synopsis there's at least a substantial gay element - and it stars Japanese idol Fukada Ryusei. I plan to watch it.
ETA: Watched it. It's feel-good, wholesome, family-centric and cutesie, maybe a bit like the Japanese version of a Hallmark Channel production. (I do not mean this in a bad way.) There's also a cute doggie (a big fluffy white Samoyed), woof-woof. I liked it!
p43425:
Coming soon: "My Summer Internship" starring Bever & Tonliew π
(I don't know details, but seems like a vertical)
Sooo ... this vert has started, and it turns out that it's an advert micro-series for the Thai Ministry of Commerce (MOC). Two micro-episodes posted so far. Rather dull, but I adore all things Tonliew.π
ep. 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy601lthl-I
ep. 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ONQYR9d_Mo
Not on MDL (advert series usually aren't).
It's interesting that the Thai government is getting on the BL bandwagen.

Finally got to watch ep 7 of Deep In! So much is happening in this episode, but I loved it.
Lol, this drama really makes me wonder how confused actors might get after performing intimate scenes.
Currently Deep In is my favourite drama that's airing. Will probably binge watch the whole thing again if it ends well. I meed more dramas like that that hook me in and I keep waiting for the next episode.
Had this conversation with a coworker. I asked her if she thought our relationship would change if we had to kiss periodically throught the day like it was part of our paperwork checklist. She thought it would be awkward at first but it would probably start to feel routine after a month or so.
Of course our situation is different because we wouldn't have to pretend to be in love with each other, but it is an interesting thought. I guess it helps if you have no attraction to the partner/coworker in question too.
I missed your post earlier. I guess for me, attraction is related more to personality. If I were to be an actor, I would probably be falling for my coworkers all the time if they are good to me off screen. π

I assumed this was going to be a romance or a melodrama, so the first few episodes threw me off. I did not expect the comedy. Fortunately for me, after a rough start, drama took a more serious turn. Generally speaking, I enjoyed the latter part of the drama. I must praise Kim and Latte, they played so well and their NC scene was mesmerising (directors somehow always know, which body part looks beautiful and needs a close up). I want to see them as the main couple sometime. Net was great as well, but there's something about JJ's acting that just doesn't sit right with me. I can't quite put my finger on it.
Completely agree. The series started off irritating me with the bad comedy but got much better about halfway through.
JJ is a cutie-patootie with a lot of talent (including an angelic voice), but I also didn't think this was the right role for him. One can only wonder how it would have been with James (as originally cast).
On the other hand, I likewise thought that Latte and Kim were really good. Kim can express a lot of feelings, even without words, which makes an interesting contrast to Latte's macho impassivity. I was among the many who were disappointed that they didn't yet get their own series in the latest DMD line-up, but hopefully something will come soon - with a script that fits their personalities.

I've not yet watched the other three ("Love Like A Bike", "Journey With You" and "Interminable"), so I was interested in your feedback.
Portugalia67:
There has been an interesting discussion in the comments of Blue Lips MDL page about the heavy use / abuse of AI in this drama.
There's a lot of production slop, not only the use/abuse of AI, but it's mostly tangential to what is otherwise (so far) an engaging and amusing series. Looking forward to episodes 4 and 5 tomorrow.
I too have various deep misgivings about AI-generated content, especially where real actors or writers are replaced. I won't promise an outright boycott, but I'm not keen on it.
It's striking that Netflix, which has long lagged in BLs outside of certain local Asian markets, is finally starting to pay attention - or maybe it's simply because Domundi/Mandee and Change2561 have struck framework deals with Netflix on favourable terms (?).
Since these are titles I've mostly already watched on other subscription platforms, this doesn't directly help me, but it makes me feel that Asian BL is becoming more mainstream.
Recent Netflix BL additions presumably worldwide (not meant to be a complete list):
Domundi/Mandee: '"Khemjira", "Next Prince", "Duang With You" (starting Friday), plus non-BL: "Zomvivor"
Change2561: "Pit Babe", "This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans", "I'm the Most Beautiful Count", "Goddess Bless You From Death", "Class Crush Crisis" (starting July 24)
Other studios: "Dating Game", "Love Like A Bike"
By the way, I thought "Dating Game" was quite a nice watch if one doesn't take the silly video game stuff too seriously.

On another note, I reached 3000 watched episodes today! I started watching K-Dramas 5 years ago and BL early 2025, which turned into a big obsession, so I'm almost sure the BL episodes account for at least half of it. Next milestone : 5000 episodes ;-)
wow! congrats! i didn't know you just started bl last year =D

It feels like forever! I remember that Pit Babe season 2 was airing when I started, and I was eagerly waiting for the next episode. The addiction got really quickly super real ;-)
it does. i hope you didnt experience any bl withdrawal symptoms lol
ElementalStar:
I was the alternative ending writer for Journey With You. I don't know why they would end an overall good drama like that, but at least it wasn't
Oh, so it was you. Thank you for writing that ending, it certainly fitted the story better π I haven't watched KtL yet, because I've got to be in a right mood for that ending...
Indie Art Girl:
So pretty!
Thank you π
Don't Be Too Emotional eps 1-3
I gave in to @RXinw's influence and I've watched the first three episodes. So far, the story delivers. It is pretty much what I expected it to be after watching that pilot months ago.
The opening song is π₯π₯π₯ I'm listening on repeat.
"I'm always looking at you" - said a predator to a prey.
Big Jane's got that dangerous yet magnetic aura about him, which makes it hard to resist him. And the courtesy he treated Lil'Jane with? Our innocent boy sure fell for it. Their relationship started all nice, until all the hidden information kept coming to the surface and all these people accusing BigJ of their misery... This makes me question - who is Jane Patrick? He's full of mysteries, that's a fact. But is he a manipulative psychopath or an actual devil in disguise? Or maybe he's just a nice guy with lots of enemies? I'm not going to lie, that cooking scene at the beginning of ep 3 reminded me of Hannibal Lecter π¨ They keep me on my toes for sure. Now is it just me or is Little Jane a little naΓ―ve? The moment he got suspicious of BigJ he started blindly trusting Dan. He doesn't know either of them well enough. Who knows? Maybe there's some bad blood between them and either of them could be lying. I feel Lil'Jane will soon regret getting in BigJ's bad books. And don't even get me started on Put. What is his agenda? From the very beginning he's been trying to keep two Janes apart. He doesn't look like an altruist to me? Is he trying to get one of Janes for himself? Well, we'll just have to wait to find out. Oh, I almost forgot. What's up with that shoulder grabbing? I've got Pit Babe flashbacks. I'm scared π¨ On a positive note, I love Jean, she's such a precious little sister π₯°

True, I wonder how different would my impression be of that character if played by James π€

Yes, me too π Were they cast anywhere beside that mermen series? I can't remember.

Same I love it !
ZhouYanRan:

Both actors are credited in the sitcom The D Dorm, but it's probably a cameo. Other than that, they have only roles by themselves, not together.
ZhouYanRan:
Were they cast anywhere beside that mermen series?
Aside from "D Dorm" (which is pretty much all of Domundi), "My Merman" is the only one in which Latte and Kim are cast together. Kim has a supporting role in "Uke", which I suspect will be a substantive role, and Latte has a supporting role in "Scent of Sorrow" (with Tutor & Yim). I actually find it rather helpful to let new pairs like these act separately so that they can individually show what they can do.
I vaguely remember something being said in the DMD Line-up about more announcements yet to come, and given the fairly strong fan support for Latte & Kim, I assume that Aoftion is listening and considering.
The very recent announcement that they're dropping God Itthipat from "Passenger Seat" is an indication that they hear their fan base. (Not passing any judgement on him myself, just observing. I likewise don't really have an opinion on Mean Phiravich, except that as a matter of principle, I believe in accepting apologies and making generous allowance for the human errors that we all make. That being said, neither is among my favourite actors.)
