"A liking B, B liking C, and C liking A" certainly happens plenty in the real gay/lesbian world (been there, done that), but unless someone changes who they like, it doesn't lead to a satisfying dramatic conclusion. I think maybe I've seen this among supporting characters in one or more BLs, but I'm scratching my head to specifically remember where. In any case, this doesn't easily work in a BL drama.

Not necessarily. It's often the way @Gabster describes it, where one of the leads chooses between two options. Full House (Korea) did this really well. Actor Lee Yeong Jae is in love with designer Kang Hye Won. He drops everything to be with her. To make her jealous, he enters into a secret contract marriage with writer Han Ji Eun. They start out as enemies, but slowly get to know each other and she slowly falls for him. So, we have this love triangle with Yeong Jae choosing between his childhood love Kye Won and his contract wife Ji Eun.
To make it more interesting, there's a 4th lead. Yoo Min Hyeok is a publisher who met Han Ji Eun when they were abroad. Min Hyeok falls for Ji Eun and helps her with her writing career. But, he's also the reason Hye Won ignores Yeong Jae, because she's been in love with Min Hyeok for many years. I think this is what's call a Love Square?
