Trailers are more concrete and what you should expect from the drama but there may still be minor changes
i'm also curious abt this, as when it's from thailand, it seems trailers can be far off from what will actually be shown in the series

Pilots don't always go the distance to the actual production and release. It's a test to gauge reactions to see if it has a chance.
Trailers are hyping and promoting an already (or almost) filmed production for release.

I'm especially looking forward to "Gelboys S2" starting Saturday on iQiyi. S1 already knocked my socks off, but somehow I feel like S2 is going to surpass it and really move into new territory, not just more of the same. And I just learned that it will include PP Krit! (Am I the only one who didn't already know this?)

Line-ups aren't necessarily just for one year, often more like a two-year plan, and usually more for the large established players such as GMMTV, Domundi/Mandee and Change2561.
Yes, these generally include pilots for each newly announced series, but a line-up is the overall plan, while pilots are teasers for individual series, often intended not only to generate viewer interest but even more so (in the Thai system) to attract sponsors and funding.
In the case of small production companies, there's a significantly higher risk that a pilot (typically one-off rather than part of an organised line-up) will never be realised, i.e. that it's more of a fishing expedition to see if they can get funding.
The word "trailer" isn't always clear: While "official trailer" is invariably post-production and shortly before release, one often sees "pilot trailer", which means pilot.

Yes. Its seems that most of the bigger companies manage to get most if not all of their pilots through to the final production product. I think less success for small companies. I bet Mr. P knows much more about this topic than me! 😁

I remember how much u enjoyed S1!! I couldn't get through it and dropped it early, but I hope S2 is just as good for the fans!

It was cute, but it also dazzled me with how dramatically good it was (writing, construction, acting), how it insightfully captured the mess of teen feelings and behaviours, and with its authentic youthful-urban vibe (although at the cost of making me feel really oooold).
(P.S. I'm not trying to convince you: You're entitled to like or not like whatever you like!)
