For those who had watched Soul Mate, can you spoil for me if Ok Tacyeon's character died?
No, but it's complicated. Bittersweet ending. The final episode is absolutely essential to make sense of things.
For those not familiar with it: "Soul Mate" (Netflix) is a superb LGBT-themed drama (not BL in the usual sense) with wonderful lead actors and a lot of depth (more and more as one reflects back on it), but it's heavy.
Hello! Hope everyone is doing well. I'm just popping in real quick before dipping back out. Started one crochet project and still have another one to start. Got the walls down in one room. This weekend will be the next room, but I wanted to touch base. I would update on everything I completed but apparently I watched over 100 dramas and 2? movies (me: what movies, I don't remember 😵💫)
How I'm feeling about my CWL (BL only)
Looking forward to each week(normal speed/1.25x)
• A Winter Sun: Art work
• Ash: Good first impression, but open to change. I want a good toxic BL.
• Don't Be Too Emotional: this has continued to surprise me with how good it has maintained.
• Gelboys S2: I loved the first season that I bothered my friend about watching it for 2 months. 😅 This is living up to the 1st season.
• Love Destiny: why is the romance taking it's time 😭 At the same time, the pacing makes sense and I love the build up.
• Love x3: I really liked the first episode, but ready to be disappointed.
• Match Point: this is my current fav school drama! My favorite sport is tennis though so I was destined to love this 🫰honestly chemistry is fire too.
• Popular Serizawa: Still at the first blush stage of this drama.
• The Edge of Horizon: I'm a sucker for Political dramas, plus Ongsa is just stunningly beautiful.
• The Servant Prince: This is a complicated one because I don't think the romance is anything interesting, mainly because I just don't think Seto Toshiki fit the role very well. What made me love this drama was Ogawa's character Goto Naoya.
Good/Fine (1.5x)
• After Moving Seats: so far so good
• Be My Player Two: I like it but can acknowledge it's just okay
• Connecting to You: I'm liking this cute laid back supernatural drama
• Duty First, Kiss Later: I'm impressed with Watanabe Shu's acting here. He really sells it.
• Hold on, Harutora-kun: too soon to really judge, but seems average.
• Knot: I'm still pissed off at the first impression of this series that it jumps from good to watchable depending on my mood.
• Ordinary Love: it really is like the title states and I love that. Its not remarkable but I'm glad to watch.
• Unlucky Bae: This hasn't wowed me yet, but I've liked what I've watched so far.
• Weirdo 101: This can go either way for me but it's looking promising. 🤞
• Your Summer, My Storm: I don't know about that plot twist but I still like this coming of age sexual awakening drama.
Watchable (1.5/2x)
• Are the Sexy Buttocks: Has some really good moments but also really mundane scenes.
• Class Crush Crisis: Average, some good moments, some not so good moments.
• My Summer of You: this jump from background noise around episode 5, but has stalled here.
• Play Me: I'll probably forget about this drama after its done.
• Your Sky: the original was my 4th or 5th attempt at getting into Thai BL. Didn't work out. The plot is very average, even though I love the trope. While I like how the original develops their characters at the beginning more, I think this shorter format works in its favor. Also (dont hate me) I think the acting is better here.
Background Noise (2x)
• Blue Lips: started off good but took a huge dip and now it kind of goes up in down for me from watchable to background noise.
• Love Hurts: classic misunderstanding because no communication. (Oops wrong drama so this one is obviously forgettable 😅)
• Make it Right 2026: what a disaster, didn't like the original but somehow the remake it worse.
• New Boyfriend: I do actually watch this as background noise. 😂
• Summer Fever: this one is the classic misunderstanding because no communication. Skip.
• Your Third: there is just something about this that just isn't hitting. It has some charming moments but overall not worth the watch unless you are a fan.
Dramas I'm looking forward to
• Kiss and Kill: this is a maybe on quality. 🤔
• Summertime: potential for an easy sweet watch.
• Mr. Fanboy: I have high hopes I will like this one.
• You Maniac: I know it will be well acted and the chemistry will be good at least.
• Love is Better the Second Time Around S2: While the 1st seasons sequence in story telling was a bit of a mess imo, it was still good.
• Police In Love: looking forward to seeing YinWar again!

Indie Art Girl:
Do u think I would love it too, Mr. P?
(re "Serizawa") I think so, but I say this with less confidance than to Tiffany because you're very particular with your likes, and sometimes you surprise me by dropping or panning something that I was sure you'd like.
All very true! 😆 U know me well!
Has it been mentioned that Summertime is starting Aug. 28? I've totally lost track of August BLs atp! What a wild month. 👁️👄👁️ 🤣
And 2 teasers: Each ML point-of-view
Indie Art Girl:
Has it been mentioned that Summertime is starting Aug. 28?
My understanding is that it's from the same creative team as "Secret Relationships" and "Prosecutor's Proposal", so my expectations are high.

thanks! i think i have to take some days off before going back to ep 8. the first episodes were ok for me but ep 7 was heavy so i'm thinking if i should just drop it (not the first series i dropped because of the ending. for me, dropping doesn't necessarily mean the series is bad, it can be something i'm not ready to watch, maybe a bit similar to indie art =D)
As proof that I'm also one of those easily tempted, I started watching Servant Prince even if it hasn't ended yet and I was really happily surprised. I have finished ep 3 and will wait before binge-watching it =D
and I've started Bittersweet Love, so far, BL (Bittersweet Love) is doing a good job of BL-ing =))

How I'm feeling about my CWL (BL only)
As always with your updates, I'm very impressed. Your concise feedback is helpful.
😁 thank you. I thought it might be a bit long winded as I kept having things to say about my favorite ones, but I try to keep to a one to two sentence structure. It helps I'm usually on my 15 min break at work when I write these. 🤭
dora:
My mother-in-law passed away on Thursday
My sincerest condolences to you and your spouse.
My heart goes out to everyone who's lost someone dear to them.
Thank you to all the people who took the time to write their opinions about the dramas they're watching. I love to read those 😄
The Edge of Horizon ep 9
"Z pocałunkiem pożegnania, kiedy nadszedł czas rozstania."
I find Phob pitiful. He's an idealist. He dreamed about making this country a better place for everyone, making it a place where people are equal and have equal opportunities, where he could finally be with the one he loves. Now he's tasting the bitter fruits of revolution. One authoritarian regime was replaced by another. Politics is still dirty. His utopian vision didn't come true. His mother disapprove of him. His comrades let him down. His commander disappointed him. His beloved stands on the opposite side of the barricade and he can't reach him. His only friend is that one journalist. I feel for him 😢
The loss of privilege is always difficult, especially for these entitled royals. Some accept it with dignity and grace, like Tinn and his grandma, while others cannot accept it and fight to restore their power, like prince Vasin and Chat.
Chat is an irresponsible fool. He lets himself be swindled and used by others, but he won't fix the problem himself. His family has to do it for him.
I love the grandma. She'll probably be my favourite family member character in 2026. She's such a wise and clever woman. She doesn't wring her hands, but she's trying to find the solution. She always looks on the bright side and she lifts everyone's spirits.
Tinn is convinced Phob hated who he is, his blue blood, so they can't be together. His family keeps making trouble, good thing his grandma is there with him. Tinn tries really hard to help his family and to make everything work. He tasted the life of the commoners. I think he could obtain great satisfaction from helping these poor children, he just needs to forget about his past social status.
This drama consistently maintains a high quality.
Popular Serizawa Acts Weird Around Me ep 2
"Czy to jest przyjaźń? Czy to jest kochanie?"
Suzuki is confused and so am I. Serizawa is acting weird around him. He didn't even exist in his universe and now he's always by his side, getting closer and closer. Suzuki thought he would be just an inspiration, maybe a beta reader, but it looks like Serizawa's got some other ideas. He clearly enjoys the seme act. Probably that's why he's ... about his inability to cook. He doesn't give up though, and he doesn't let Suzuki give up on his writing as well.
I like Serizawa's friends. They didn't bat an eyelid when they saw them 'cuddling' on the rooftop. They just accepted Suzuki as a new addition to the group.
Matsuno came out of nowhere. Is he a new love rival? If so, who is he in love with? Suzuki?
It's still cute, like a sweet snack in the middle of the week.
Knot ep 8
The stagnation in main couple's relationship is slowly getting on my nerves and I consider myself a patient person. Watch their scenes at double speed, you won't miss anything.
Fortunately, there are other things going on. Naphitch and his story came to the fore. Someone framed him for human trafficking and he's trying to clear himself of the charges with the help of his brothers. At the same time there seems to be some secret fling going on between him and Saengnuea. And we still don't know what happened that night at the bar. Actually, Saengnuea is suspicious. What is his hidden agenda? Conspiracy theory time. Maybe it wasn't a coincidence at all that Phatsa saved him. Maybe it was all a part of a bigger plan. He gained their trust, he even went with Phatsa to the hospital. What if he, or the person behind him, was the one who hid Phatsa's medical records? Now he seduced Naphitch and it looks like he's going to try get between Nakhin and Ongsa as well. Something fishy is going on here.
I love the strong bond between the brothers. They didn't look so close in the beginning, but I'm glad they stand by each other.

i'm sad, i was looking forward to binge-watching this, as i also miss seeing boat-oat :(

I don't know if anyone has said this already but ohms new partner was announced. It is jjay
Is it really Jjay? Now I'm getting curious what would his chemistry with Ohmkrit be like... He worked nicely with Fuaiz, but I'm ready to see what he could show us with a different partner. Him and Ohm are both tall and good-looking, so visuals are there. And I've got to agree with @dora, so far Jjay's roles were more on a serious side, I wonder how he'll do in a comedy 🤔
As soon as I finish Ticket to Heaven, I'm watching Shine. I've been waiting so long to watch it, but I had to wait for the right mood. Now is the time 😉
I feel like this drama is getting better with each episode. Sora and Hinata are adorable together.
Finally, the other couples' love stories are slowly beginning too.
Wait, who is Miyu? I literally can't remember whether she was in the original or not. Now I'm seriously worried about the state of my brain 😨
Ticket to Heaven eps 3-4
"I tylko mam nadzieję, że chyba wiesz, co robisz, Panie."
Yes, it's difficult to watch. It's slow and not rushed, but it isn't boring. It provokes a lot of thoughts, and not all of them are pleasant. It's not a lighthearted watch.
Tan lost his parents early, so he was brought up by father Arnon in a Catholic boarding school. He doesn't really know life outside the school walls. No wonder becoming a priest seems the most natural choice for him. He misses his parent and wants to meet them again in heaven. It won't happen, if he lets his sinful desire take over. Barth makes it really hard to resist the temptation. Everything was going well before he came into his life. He had a clear path ahead of him, now he's led astray by Barth. He's spending every moment with him, thus distancing himself from his friends, especially Kong. Honestly, Tan is between the devil and the deep blue sea. He can either reject his nature, become priest and go to heaven, or embrace who he is, be with Barth and go to hell.
Barth lost his faith long ago. His parents were religious too. His father, however, didn't live according to the commandments and he abused his wife and son. Barth prayed for a long time, yet his prayers were not answered. Then that tragic day happened, when he lost his parents. God didn't help him in his time of need and his sexuality is not accepted. I guess he chose to be himself and be happy here and now.
The tension in the bathroom was palpable, such an amazing acting.
Cherry is a cool person, I like her. Master Phak is strange, something about him bothers me 🧐
ZhouYanRan:
Wait, who is Miyu? I literally can't remember whether she was in the original or not.
Yes, but it was tangential and forgettable. I also forgot about it and had to go back to the original "Your Sky" to remind myself.
I likewise find myself enjoying this remake and comparing it with the Domundi/Mandee original with an open mind. There are definitely some differences in pace and emphasis. And while Hinata (Fukuda Ayuta) and Teerak (Kong) are both adorably cute, their cuteness is very different: Teerak is more naive and child-like, which I think is sweet and endearing, but I know that some viewers really dislike it. Hinata is a more mature version which could potentially work better as a convincing, engaging love story.
ZhouYanRan:
And I've got to agree with @dora, so far Jjay's roles were more on a serious side, I wonder how he'll do in a comedy
It's be interesting indeed to see how Jjay (now "JT") does in a comedy role ("Magic Lover"). The "straight man" (in the sense of playing the role straight and serious, nothing to do with sexuality) is a classic comedy technique which often works well, if JT plays the role that way.
I find it encouraging that Jjay changed his nickname to "JT" in order to join Domundi and partner with Ohmkrit in that I see it as a sign that JT is very serious about it as a longer-term commitment. Fingers crossed that it's success - most of all for the sake of my beloved Ohmkrit.
