You Maniac ep1
This show really knows what it’s doing. I mean, I was sat for this just from the trailer, but if that wasn’t enough, this opening scene wasfire. They do this by setting this scene in “the present” when WilliamEst have already hooked up, but the rest of the episode takes place six months earlier, to give us the background. Despite a lot of the episode being set up for WilliamEst and KinBarcode, we still get a real sense of the two main characters, and enough of the second couple characters.
William is wonderful to watch as a cocky player, and I love Est best when he’s standoffish, so they are really perfect for these roles. Plus, together, they are magic—as fans like me are already well aware. (My friend who went to their fan event said Est was especially hot in person! As if I needed confirmation! Lol.) I can’t tell how I feel about Kin yet, but I’ll watch Barcode in any role, so we’ll see how they are when they interact more. It was a great first episode, though, and I will eagerly await the next one.
Mr. Fanboy ep1
Oh Domundi, how do I love thee! Lots of DMD members make appearances in this first episode, which is always fun. But what makes this so promising as a first episode is the chemistry between AuauSave. So good! The second couple, Ryunjin and Patji, only just meet, so I’ll have to wait to see them really interact.
Like most first episodes, there is a lot of set up, but it was still engaging. Plus there is some meta humor, which I love, like a comment that Save has the look of a “conventional bottom.” This episode doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it is just serious enough to give us hints of what’s to come. I’m optimistic. I think this is going to be a really enjoyable show.
Four Hands, Two Sonatas ep1 (bromance)
Song Kang is still beautiful. Lots of piano playing and family drama. Cute girl threatening to turn my bromance into a straight romance. Koreans still love trauma and good acting. Didn’t really capture my attention until the end of the episode.
