If the central story line of Moonlight Chicken is less original, what are some equally good ones with a world-weary protagonist who's been worn down by life? That part especially spoke to me and I loved how much support they all gave each other and the overall emotional intelligence and honesty of it.
You're absolutely right. My bad choice of words. I guess I should have just said: The secondary Li Ming / Heart storyline and love story is so original and extraordinary and compelling that the main storyline and love story, although also original and compelling, necessarily pale by comparison.
I also like the authenticity of Thai series like "Moonlight Chicken" with normal people (e.g. Jim) living in modest circumstances and struggling with real life problems (e.g. Jim's restaurant), rather than the Thai infatuation with the rich and powerful seen in so many Thai series (e.g. rich university student living in super luxury condo and driving a $300,000 sports car paid by daddy).
