Just Finished HIStory 3: Trapped, It was quite enjoyable if you don't try to reason with the logics. The plot was quite intriguing but it turned out as silly and not too faithful to it's genre distribution. I'll categorise it as more of a mob action with romance elements than a thriller/mystery. It is already applaudable that they gave us something different when school/college BLs were lining up. It can be considered as turning point, as it widen the horizons for future BL stories.
Actors do fit in their respective roles, but somewhere I felt some scenes were weird edited or awkwardly acted. I can't come to conclusion which one of the above reasons would be befitting, for instance, when Shao Fei and Tang Yi had their first intimate scene after Shao Fei saved Hong Ye, it somehow felt weird. Was it fault in editing or acting I couldn't conclude. Both of them were so comfortable with each other that made surreal (b/w an officer and a gang boss) romance feel real. Maybe that's the reason, it's liked by wide range of audience. (Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it too.) Jack and Zhao Zi didn't have much screen time but they stood out in their own ways and made their ways to our hearts as couple.😍 Hong Ye and Dao Yi contributed least to the story but their romance was also interesting.
Romance from enemies to lovers, was quite interesting and worth a watch. You'll see the chemistry blooming with all the beaming cuteness and sexual tension among main characters. Coming to the thriller part, I didn't really felt attracted to it. Story did panned out smoothly but there were so many absurd arcs, actually random to be precise, that didn't felt necessary or I was expecting them to develop them more. Twists were quite predictable. It was silly how they shaped up police work as sloppy and lazy, who wouldn't go through all the fact checking before heading out on a mission. As if all they did was eat, sleep, paper work and no legit investigation. Even though Interpol got involved, they were all behaving childishly.
When big revelations were made I was expecting characters (esp. Tang Yi) to take time and grow with them and don't be hasty at making decision. Like your whole life's existence was turned upside down but you just made decision at few words from someone. But on the brighter side I take it as that your life is too short to hold grudges, having vengeful feelings and it's better to let go. Here, I was referring to the scene where Shao Fei was convincing Tang Yi to accept Master Chen as his father. I was expecting him to go through his feeling than taking decisions on whim.
Lastly, I liked how this show portrayed the value of second chance, no matter what the situation is you can always give yourself and others second chance, if you feel it's more worthy letting go and have chance to live life to fullest just go for it.
Overall - 7.5/10 - Maybe 7 , I wasn't interested in story that much but I wanted to know what will happen to their relationship and how they manage to find the common ground, and I think that's enough for staying. 😊😊
