1.) The MDL score is USUALLY a good indicator of the quality of the drama. I say "usually", because sometimes a drama gets review bombed for reasons other than the quality of the drama itself. This can happen for reasons I've listed below. It doesn't take a lot of 1/10 scores to lower an MDL score.
I never trust ratings anywhere. Titles get review bombed for all sorts of reasons - positives and negatives. Or get bombed by spammers with multiple alt accounts. And then there's obviously people who rate (and review) things a certain way just because it wasn't their thing, and not based on quality at all. I will forever hold a grudge against the professional critics who wrote bad reviews of Darkest Minds because the YA dystopian scifi movie was *checks notes* a YA dystopian scifi movie... o.O

2.) Take the comments and reviews with a grain of salt. In almost every drama on MDL, you will find people who think a drama is perfect and others who think it is terrible. Some criticisms are simply wrong, indicating the person commenting didn't watch the whole drama.
Yea, honestly. Even when people write about the same exact parts of the story, they see it with different lenses. Eventually, if you care to, you find other commenters and reviewers that tend to hold similar views and perspectives as you, and that's the best time to actually consider reviews.
(and yea... the reviews that show people weren't really paying attention or falsely mark a show as complete just so that theyd have a better chance of being seen despite their incomplete information...)

3.) Read the plot summary of MDL, and if it interests you, start watching it. If after two episodes, you're not particularly enjoying it, just drop it and watch something else. You can always come back to it later.
Personally:
If i'm simply not vibing with it because it doesnt fit my mood, I shelve it after 1 or 2 episodes.
To determine if i fully drop or not though, i typically give at least 3 episodes. Episode length matters on this count.
