Ryn_333:

'Yes or no 2.5' isn't a sequel, sadly. It's a new story with new characters. The only thing it shares with the other two movies is one actress. Really scammy marketing tactic to call it 'Yes or No 2.5' imo. It's nowhere near as good a movie as the other two.

I see. Well, I noticed butch women on the cover so it still fits the list, right? And sadly MDL says it's a sequel, although if it's a marketing tactic by the producers, I wouldn't have known that.

It does still fit the list, yep :)

The novel series, referred to as the amusement park universe, by Really.b is praised for its execution of angst, and the way that it distinguishes itself from other love-triangle romances in the GL sphere.

Okay so I finished Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna season 2 just now. I had an idea to give this series a 9.5 (I know, a high score), but it turned out the kiss between them was just a fish kiss?? I don't know, you know those kisses where people don't move their lips, they just touch lips for a few seconds and call it a kiss? That's what happened. It was incredibly disappointing as I was looking forward to it. The food in this series is great, don't get me wrong, but I'd have loved for them to be more affectionate towards each other that involves hugs and kisses as Nomoto said, but earlier in the series. It feel like they only hugged and kissed in the last episode to check it off the list of "this is a GL should look like". Anyone else think the same? I ended up giving it an 8, scored lower than the first season which was a 9. I think that maybe if I watched this one in one week compared to over one year, I'd feel different about it. Warm feelings but they don't feel like an actual couple, more or less. Thoughts?

I was also a bit disappointed in the romance aspect of Tsukutabe. I know Japanese GL TV shows rarely indulge in physical closeness but there were a few moments I felt were perfect opportunities to display some but were left unused. For example in the final episode of S1, our heroines are running up the hill to see the sunrise and end up holding hands for part of the way up. But the moment they reach the top, both let go immediately. I would've loved to see two leads "forgetting" that they're holding hands and blushing when they realize it.

Watching season 2, I no longer had any such expectations and it didn't really surprise me at all that these two grown ass women who are looking into moving into an apartment together barely kiss in the entire season. Compared to the manga, the depictions of the characters are super subdued and while Nomoto's realization that she might be a lesbian is treated with respect, it's just another "oh, I guess I'm gay. oh well *continues making pumpkin soup* scene with little emotional payoff.

This is what bothered me the most fr

Like, they're moving in together but they just hugged and kissed for the first time? I'm sorry but it's not believable. I don't know what I expected, but it was definitely not this.

I can't score it lower though, I loved the food (omg so good) and the atmosphere in general. /sighs

Okay now I want the equivalent of Revenged Love in GL form. Please gimme this and I'll be grateful forever! I want hot kisses and some NC scenes and a tumultuous plot, a rollercoaster of emotions!

Say no to fish kisses!!

I still need to watch season 2, but considering one is ace-spec and the other is aro-spec, i wouldnt expect their relationship to hit the “milestones” on the average timeline of a relationship.

Eh? I missed out on the whole ace/aro spectrum thing for them. I thought they're just lesbians who are too shy about sex and romance. Even if they're grown ass women and technically they should be fine with these things.

Yea, i think so far only Nomoto’s aceness has been addressed in the manga. But the author stated a couple years ago that Nomoto is ace-spec and Kasuga is aro-spec.

Excessive shyness in japanese romance dramas isnt unusual, but considering these two’s orientations besides being lesbians would be a solid explanation for it.

I see. It all makes sense now! Thanks for clearing this up for me, I haven't read the manga so I thought only Yako is asexual and not the main couple.

Queendom Ep 1 preview

Has anyone watched "B-Friend"? The MDL score is very low (6.2) and the comments suggest it is pretty bad. If you have thoughts, please share them.

I haven't watched ep 12 yet because that's airing today, but I've watched the other 11, some of them on 1.5x speed, some on 2x. It's not very good, but it's not disastrously bad either. If it'd been edited to half or a third of its current length, it would've been pretty decent. A lot of time is wasted promoting the resort it was filmed in, with its organic vegetable garden.

It's looking like it probably won't end in polyamory, despite the main three each being into each other and having slept with each other. There's lots of cheating. They do quite well on the love scenes. That's their strong suit.

In terms of plot, very meh. A bunch of interesting stuff happens, but it doesn't become one coherent whole. The plotline where Dawan has memory issues doesn't get mentioned after ep 6, for example, despite it ostensibly being what the story was 'about' in ep 1. There's too many characters all having their own stuff going on and overshadowing the main plot, if there even still is such a thing.

5/10 for me, but if they manage to tie it together in the last episode, or end up in polyamory after all, I might up that to 5.5.
