Actually for #5, if the word multi sub is written on the bottom left of the video, it has subtitles in many languages. I subscribed to them, because for some vertical dramas, maybe? only them has it (seems like I do save many of their dramas). The percentage of that multi subs video is small though.

A tip, I use google lens on the drama poster if I can't find the drama through its chinese title, and it's really useful. Like I could find almost everything (but maybe it's not a good thing since it suddenly becomes almost 300 titles on youtube only...).

1. Characters speak a (weird) mix of Cantonese and Mandarin, e.g. the main characters speak Mandarin, characters address them/start talking to them  in Cantonese but switch midway in conversation. Why is that? What do you think?

I have seen a few dramas like this. I think it is because the setting is in Hong Kong so Cantonese is the main language spoken but they do not want to isolate the Mandarin audience and plus the main actors' native language is Mandarin so I think it's accurate they will speak in Mandarin to accommodate those who doesn't know Cantonese.  I watched one drama where the main actor native language is Cantonese so he will speak Cantonese with everyone except when he is with FL then they will all speak Mandarin to accommodate her.

In Our Generation, the ML was doing exactly this when the FL visited him in Hong Kong. Ever since I started watching CDramas, I haven't heard much Cantonese, so it was a bit of a surprise to hear it again in this drama. I only recognize it and don't understand anything but counting to 10 (which the ML did, I was laughing). I used to watch a lot of Hong Kong films as a child and was more used to hearing Cantonese then. Hearing it again, the tones sound a bit like Vietnamese to me.
