[Userscript] Better MDL Project

Out of curiosity, what AIs are writing the code for these two projects? Does it burn through tokens with say these 4000 lines to keep track of?

AI is only good for coding if you're using a premium version of ChatGPT's Codex. I think every AI is using tokens, so yeah, it's not cheap at all. You can do it for free, but it's not as good.

A simple code like adding Original Work Box wit ChatGPT Codex:

Free: you're out of tokens after an hour at best

Go: 2-3 hours at best

Plus: 5 hours or so

Pro: 5+ hours, not sure how many tbh

If you're using the ChatGPT website it can write you prompts for free, and you can use that in Codex to save an hour or so, but you have to ask it to stop overexplaining everything and give you much fewer status notifications. With that you can save some tokens.

My honest opinion is this. I use Plus because I got 1 month for free, but even with Plus, it took me a whole week to release this version of the script, and I had to fix a LOT of things in the code plus the design.

In short, even if you give Codex a free ChatGPT prompt, it's not going to be perfect because you need to do a lot of testing, bug reports, and ideas that you have to write down properly so it won't misunderstand you. So, it's not like you can say, "Write me a code like Better MDL" and it's done in an hour. So yeah, it's much faster than doing this 100% manually because it can write scripts much faster, but the bug reports and testing take a day or two.

I spent like 2 days only on the friends' boxes. 😅

I'm not sure if it's a bug or not since I don't know how you're getting the original work, but the first entry I checked is certainly wrong

Original Work box improvements

- Improved how the Original Work box detects and displays source material.
- The box now uses a cleaner, unified layout:
- Title
- Year, when available
- Type
- Volume, when available
- Author, when available
- Source, when available
- If no reliable external source is found, the script can still create a simple fallback box from the adaptation information available on kisskh.
- Removed duplicate badges under the title, such as extra 'Novel', 'Manga', or year labels.
- Fixed cases where unrelated synopsis/status text appeared inside the metadata.
- Improved cover handling when a reliable cover image is available.
- Updated the cache so older incorrect Original Work results are cleared automatically.

Hi guys! With this new update, I think the script is officially done. I think I have implemented all the features we've had in the original BetterMDL script, plus some new features as well.

I have some other features in my mind, like an awards page, SNS links, and a notification section for favorite artists, but I'm not sure if this can be done, though.

- Hide completed/watched titles.

- Switch between normal table view and a larger poster/card view.

- Added new options to BetterMDL Settings: Hide/Show Comments for People/Title pages and Filmography toolbar. You can disable the toolbar or the Large View view.

- Title page auto-hide now includes Comments.

- People filmography controls can be enabled/disabled with Filmography: Sort by/Large View.

hello, I opened this to look at the new update (thank you for it!) and saw the "If you have any suggestions, let me know." so I'm gonna say a few things I have been thinking about for a while (it's more like my secret wishes or if I could change anything about MDL kinda things).

1. Custom text overlay over the "Undecided" category -- frankly I don't understand why the new category was named like that, what I needed was "PTW yet to air" not Undecided (it wouldn't personally bother me if I still have to sort dramas Undiceded as long as I can see the custom text when viewing my watchlist)

2. Toggle Check box to display native titles on drama pages -- I watch cdramas and the English titles are often too similar (legend of that, romance of something else, etc.) so I have started to use native titles and being able to see them on the drama pages would be hella useful for me

so yeah these are kinda highly personal, not sure if they worth adding bc of that, but I thought I'd share just in case :)

1: I'm not sure if I can add a completely new category (probably not), but I can change the name of it and make it optional in the settings. If I understand correctly, you want a different type of PTW only for the dramas that you want to watch when they will be released and not some 5 years from now, for example, like I do with most of my PTWs. 😅

I have a private list on my profile for my yearly plans; I think that's something like you want, right?

2: Excuse my lazy editing, but this is what you want, right? 😅 I think this can be done too.

1. Oh sorry I must have worded it wrong, I don't meant it as creation of new category (before MDL added the Undecided category Mio. said a new category as a whole is not possible throught just extension), I just want the "Undecided" to displey in watchlist as a Custom text I could set in setting. -- I like for my watchlist PTW to be dramas I can start watching right away (eg. I don't put un-aired stuff on it) but I also gotta track the dramas I want to watch once they air -- Currently I use a custom list for these, but having them in watchlist would be awesome (bc then I can see them in calendar and they'll get airing tag so I don't have to check title by title)

I will look into this and I think I can do this pretty fast because it's not that hard. We'll see. I will update the forum if it's done.

A little bug fix for the Filmography Toolbar. Now, the release year and the episode number also show the color of the status you picked. If something is not in your list, it's not going to have any color.

Would it be possible to additional link to the english language plattforms such as YOUKU ,IQYI, Tencent Video, Mango TV and all I forgot? I mean I got them in my personal favorits but I felt victim not just one time clicking on the platformslink to land on the chinese sites. Thats inconvinient.
