I’ve been thinking about how some anime just click from episode 1, while others take a few episodes to really get going.

For me, the ones that hooked me instantly were:

  • Attack on Titan – that first episode was insane

  • Death Note – the pacing and mind games were perfect

  • Jujutsu Kaisen – strong start with great animation and characters

On the other hand, some popular anime took me a while to get into but ended up being worth it.

Curious to hear from everyone:

  • What anime hooked you right away?

  • Any shows that started slow but paid off later?

  • Do you prefer fast-paced openings or slow world-building?

Feel free to drop recommendations too 👀

The Apothecary Diaries hooked me right from the first episode. Maomao’s character and the mystery kept things interesting from the start.

Violet Evergarden has held a special place in my heart for years. The animation is absolutely stunning, and the storytelling is beautifully crafted. Watching the main character’s growth unfold is both powerful and deeply moving. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a touching and visually breathtaking anime experience.

I enjoy anime like Mob Psycho 100 that grabbed me from the start with fast-paced action, but also take its time to build a rich, immersive world. I love that it balance immediate excitement with thoughtful world-building, letting me feel both the energy and the depth of the characters.
