Ep8 - The first song playing softly in the karaoke room where Jiaxu was being introduced to a woman by his colleagues was the first hit song of Mao Buyi 毛不易 : 《消愁》Xiāo chóu ("Drowning sorrows ") which contributed to MBY winning a singing competition in the summer of 2017, where Victor Ma Boqian also took part.   Here is a link to its live performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHGN3ViWrns 

The second song was "It Seems to Fall Into The Sea of Love" 《好像掉進愛情海裡》 , sung by Zhao Lusi in the Oh! My Emperor OST  (also in Ep13)

Despite it is not in the drama, since I mentioned Victor Ma Boqian taking part in the  2017 competion which launched both his and Mao Buyi's careers in music in China,  watch him rap and perform with Hua Chenyu the song 《差不多先生》Chàbùduō   xiānshēng  (Mr. So-so) during the competition.   He has already many bilingual songs, such as "Carabiner" . Victor Ma is taking part in a project called D N A Music Alliance* 音乐联盟 where he has several songs together with Lay /Zhang Yixing, and Shan Yichun  (Al In, Cypher, Wait For You, and more songs to be released in July and August 2023) ;  and of course there is the "Be Your Light" song from the OST of Hidden Love.

(* "D.N.A is a new music alliance founded and led by global Chinese superstar Lay Zhang in 2022. Their first debut single ‘Cypher’ was released on February 14th, 2023 on Valentine’s Day in celebration of ’love‘.   I think it was the OST song "Be your light" but it is faint, so unclear.  Listen to  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo8LkKRIOIw&list=PLLaG0k-PXfne2agYKUvWzD-1wGsnEzBJN&index=5 from 0:55 in the song.  The piano tune after is something else, but it did not get a name in the OST and is more a sort of "atmospheric tune", so I don't think it has a name or a separate recording.

Sorry I can't help. It's too washed out by the noise around in the mall and the dialogue that I can find any familiarity with it. To me it was like mall music that I block out when I go shopping,  and drowned in the mall noise of a relatively crowded place. So, unless someone else can hear it more clearly...  I hope you enjoy the drama nonetheless.

Can you please tell me the name of the background song playing in hidden love ? it's from the karaoke scene from episode 8, scene 22:34, pleaseeee I've been looking for it !!

Sorry, the song sung by rough chorus of the girls in the background after the Happy birthday song?  That's one I don't know, and the melody delivery and words are too unclear for me to hunt up from lyrics.   Although the rhythm reminded me vaguely of one from Meteor Garden...

If someone with a keen ear (mine are not sufficiently sharp any longer)  can  get a line or so in Hanzi (Chinese characters) of those, it might, perhaps, be possible to find it though. All the unlisted additional songs that I had found are listed in my above post : others, I don't know. But if someone else can add more, I would be pleased to read about it!   

Wishing you continued enjoyment of that lovely drama  which certainly can be re-watched  several times without getting bored   (I am currently working on a companion piece for another one, hoping to finish it by tomorrow : As Beautiful As You - which has some nice songs too,  and even quoted one from an older iconic one : c-dramas often do !)

Thanks for reply, and if you like c-drama OST songs, Peachey Blossom has excellent playlists sorted out by c-dramas (other Chinese songs or albums are also translated for our pleasure of discovering other voices, in other playlists: it is always a pleasure to explore that channel!)  

As I checked there today, I was thrilled to find the compilation of Huang Xiaoyun songs put together there in "Album" form, for this artist who, while not unknown, certainly merits even more attention, so I had a look at her Wikipedia page, finding this nugget : "Huang Xiaoyun is known for her vocals and wide vocal range, as well as her viral performance of "Upwards to the Moon" (左手指月) on Sound of My Dream. The performance gained over 10 million views on YouTube".  Ah, that song is one of my favorites, although I can't reach the high notes effortlessly achieved by composer Sa DingDing or singer Charlie Zhou/Zhou Shen with whom Sa DingDing also did a memorable performance for a zhongqiujie event in Xi'an. None of these songs are featured in Hidden Love, but don't we all feel a "hidden" or open love for the variety of these voices of Chinese music!

As for my Companion pieces, the latest one (As Beautiful  As You), was completed a week or so ago. I have been away from screens for a short vacation and am now  debating with myself whether or not I will dive into new or old stuff or re-watches. I will probably not tackle more Companion pieces or Profiles immediately : they take a lot of time and I like to just enjoy watching and listening (I am triggered to launch Companion pieces whimsically). Currently starting on the "fall-winter" part of the cornucopia of  c-dramas, after the Olympics pause 😂
