Thank you for the link!

If you want to enjoy the drama it may be better not to read the novel.

I immensely enjoyed the complex characters and clever conspiracies in the novel. However, once some “enlightened” scriptwriter has adapted the story by dumbing down the plot so that a five-year-old can follow it and replacing all the interesting bits by the usual tropes, it will become a disappointment.

I wish I was wrong about this, but sadly there are too many precedents of good stories being completely mangled by the scriptwriters because they seem to think that their audience is too dumb for something clever.

I know what you mean and agree that the drama adaptations can turn into a much different story, and sometimes the interesting supporting characters are sadly written out. So I  usually approach them with a view of them as different works, if I have to.  The screenplay may also be done well, in its own right. As for the mangled ones where the drama is poorly written, characters  and story arcs are  illogical or don’t make sense, I won’t and can’t continue watching.  I am looking forward to reading  this, just only started with the first couple of chapters. Cheers to more great translated  novels!

Okay this novel was a solid read, couldn’t put it down. I shall not place overly high expectations on the drama version and enjoy them both on their own merits 😄

Can u pls tell me is the chair kiss scene of the trailer in the novel??

I’m sorry I don’t remember; have read too many other novels since 😅

Ohh Okayyy no problem

It also depends on the production team. The author also wrote Love Like the Galaxy, while I didnt read that novel but having read this book and watch LLTG , I realised what's the author's schtick -

the interpersonal dynamic and the ties to the past that affects the current .

In LLTG - it was clearly shown the founding emperor's past - his general - and the other noble clans , some died but their descendants were living off past sacrifices to remain in glory. A lot of ppl might find it really boring and a slog and confusion with always introduction of new clans . But it was so damn fascinating to see clans fighting for what they believe they deserve

The same in this novel 10 years of Light =

+ We have founding history  - 500-1000 years ago

+ 20-10 years ago - glorious sacrifice of the strongest person in the righteous world defeating demonic sect

+ Current generation's plot
