I just noticed this is a thing specific to Korea.
In kdramas there is rarely a much older man dating a young woman these days, but there are tons of older woman dating young men dramas and people seem to prefer them a lot more. I heard Korean people tried to boycott Mr Sunshine because of the age gap while international viewers WANTED romance.
There is RARELY any abusive male in romantic dramas in kdramas, all the ones which have a tsundere male lead are from the past decade, however abusive women seem to be thing in kdramas. Look at Its Ok not to be ok, this drama would never be made if the ML was acting like the FL. Women yelling, hitting etc men seems to be normal in kdramas.
I am starting to prefer Western dramas or Japanese because these are more realistic and enjoyable for me.
