Its okay to watch One & Only as you has Forever & Ever later to heal your broken heart. ❤️
Huhu yes, I guess watching *One and Only* will feel more bearable if I watch *Forever and Ever* afterward. Maybe once I’m feeling a bit better, I’ll continue watching it. Right now, I’m trying to comfort myself by watching their behind-the-scenes clips from *Love of Nirvana*.
And thank you so much for being there and discussing this drama with me, it truly helped ease the heaviness in my heart. Being able to express my sadness and thoughts about this drama, even just through writing, has made me feel a lot better.
They cannot say I love you to each other so all they did are exchanged of gifts to convey their feelings -- the couple with the most exchanged of gifts in my book -- legit it was like 7 or 8 gifts lol. He enjoys her company so put more logs into the fire so she can continue her puppet show. He cant hugs her to console her so he gave her sweets to comfort her just like eating sweets did to him. Also, same food tasted different without her. And he cant show his feelings since he has big responsibilities on his shoulder so he did all the things to her silently -- hoping she didnt know it was from him.
And yesss, I totally agree with what you said—how they “gave each other gifts” in their own way, constantly supporting one another, even without saying “I love you” outright.
Also, those small acts of care that Wei Zhao showed Jiang Ci over time really made me understand just how sincere his feelings were. Like when he held her back so she wouldn’t bump into the wooden beam in episode 16 (after ayan's case). He didn’t say anything at first, but just from his eyes, we could see how worried he was after what happened that night. And when he held the umbrella for Jiang Ci, he immediately took her back to the house afterward, and gently dried her hair with a small towel. If Jiang Ci hadn’t looked at him like that, I don’t think Wei Zhao would’ve asked her to dry her hair herself. Then in episode 19, when Jiang Ci was wearing Wei Zhao’s clothes, and he saw the sleeves were too long for her—he folded them up for her.
Such small moments, but they made me fall for him even more :( But through that, we can see that their love wasn’t shallow at all. Plus, as viewers, we understand why Wei Zhao couldn’t fully express his feelings because he still had goals to achieve, and many people had sacrificed for him to keep moving forward and pursue justice.
about how it seemed like they have lived their whole life together but what they actually meant at that time is the life they might not have together. 😢 Or how he performed the wedding ritual on his own because he cant ask that from her personally but he wanted to do it anyway, selfishly -- something for him finally this time around because she makes him see light/hope in the dark world he lived as Wei Zhou.
I cried again earlier when I read what you wrote about Wei Zhao saying it felt like he had already lived a long life with Jiang Ci, and that he got to choose his own marriage. :(((( And I realized, in that episode, Wei Zhao actually smiled more, didn’t he? Probably because he didn’t know what the future held . Thinking about that again just made me even sadder :((
So, he really try many options in his quests for justice. I really like that. And he really fight to stay alive and not like he is ready to crash and burn like a phoenix like at the start of the drama. The sad and heartbreaking ending only resulted since he really has no choice. I just wish fate is kinder to him. T_T
You were right, Wei Zhao really did try to survive from the beginning. Not only did he promise Jiang Ci the night before on the swing, saying “wait for me to come back,” but from the start, he wasn’t someone who just gave up on fight. He really fought hard to stay alive, it’s just that, like you said, he eventually has no choices after trying everything he could. I really think this drama is something I’ll remember for the rest of my life :((
By the way, have you ever seen this music video? I couldn’t find an official version on YouTube (?), but this one has some scenes that weren’t in the drama—like cut scenes or different camera angles. There’s a part where Jiang Ci walks ahead of Wei Zhao, and another where their faces are shown smiling after the kiss on the swing, and they're happily eating together while smiling :((
Watching this made me cry again. The swing scene too—in the drama we only see it from Jiang Ci’s point of view, but in the video, there’s also a shot from Wei Zhao’s perspective. Maybe this is from Weibo?
Here’s the link to the video I meant:
