Interesting. I felt like he was a golden boy before the torture (he even said he was arrogant) but not so much after. The clinic crew called him beggar for a year. He was willing to play the role of a servant indefinitely. When his identity was revealed, he still had high status to the world, but his family took advantage of him and continued to do terrible things to him. He was quieter and more humble than before. And although he wasn't a monster to the world, he was something loathsome to FFYY. The woman who made him think she raped him and who then became his wife. Which was a really messed up dynamic.

That's fair. TSJ was not portrayed as a monster.

I feel bad for Jing for all the abuse he suffered but I don't classify him as "different". He's a deity while Xiang Liu is a demon who's vilified.

I agree that TSJ is not vilified, but, for clarity, TSJ is part deity (from one of the most powerful noble god tribe clans) and part demon. Like all members of the Tushan clan, he's a descendant of the original nine-tailed fox. 

The nine-tailed fox that held XY captive was described as a demon more than once, and TSJ says that he was probably a relative of the Tushan clan because all descendants of the original nine-tailed fox are relatives of the Tushan clan. Xiao Yao also described him as "King of the fox tribe", and XL recognized that that meant she was referring to a nine-tailed fox. 

XY is also part deity (from the one of the most powerful noble god tribe clans through her grandmother, and from the newly established Xuan Yuan royal line through her grandfather) and part... whatever Qi Yo was. Her father was originally known as the Beast King. Maybe he was a full demon, or part demon, or maybe he was fully a deity but he definitely wasn't associated with any of the prominent god tribe families. He was reviled by his enemies, but later in life he was also the Flame Emperor's one and only disciple and he was granted the status of a general and given control over the Flame Emperor's army. 

XL is a full demon who has nine heads (very unusual even among demons) and who is an enemy of Xuan Yuan. He is indeed vilified by Xuan Yuan. But he also has a deity alter ego that he can take up at any time.

Yeah, same thing! He’s in no way vilified. That whole family drama is his personal stuff, nothing to do with how the world sees him. Just rich people’s problems.

Xiang Liu, on the other hand… don’t get even get me started.

The thing that bothers me the most is that XY was tortured by a nine-tailed fox and ends up with another one. Her dad was a demon, but no thanks, can’t be making the same mistakes of my family.
