Somebody on Reddit said it was because his voice didn't suit the character and he has a slight accent. imo, I think it would've been better if he dubbed himself. I love his real voice and it's more emotional as I saw in the BTS of him seeing XY severely injured.

True, accent has always been a problem for cdrama. Then they always get a dubbing actor. But gotta admit especially in historical drama that does make sense. Modern dramas it doesn’t really matter, better use actors real voice.

 Elise:

I remember those Viki timed comments said his acting was wooden and they saw no chemistry with YZ. I have to agree. It's like he's very self-aware the camera is on him which made his acting look... not natural/stiff. Plus, he was acting with some veteran actors so the contrast with the acting was noticeable. Just watch people curse me now too since I'm talking about a real person! It's just my opinion <3

Exactly !!!

Ahh, I see. Yeah. But that doesn't really change anything, at the end of the day. People just go with the flow. Tan is just Tan, and that means quite a lot. Can't even compare.

Yes I have just been incredibly illogical biased 😅

After pointing out how poor XL / FFB is money wise, I found this awesome video from H!6.  Apparently, Tan Jian Ci could draw from real life for his money woes, especially at restaurants.  I need GIFs of his expressions from this.

You Have No Money

I remember this episode. And I think there was another ep as well. He kept getting drawn and always had to pay for everyone. I think it was last years mid autumn special or something 😂😂😂

Ahhhh hahahaha how cuuute!

The older comments. They hoped he'd be XY's endgame. The innocence back then 🥺💔

oh yeahhh they wouldn’t know 😔😔

@Tuchen

As ex Jinger I liked YSQ at the beginning and I think DW portrayal then was good and fit the gentleness and kindness of the character well. My problem with him started when he went back being TSJ, who for all appearance and character description should be a smart and savy businessman. The drama TSJ fell short here and the character becoming contradictory in my eyes, because IMHO a succesful businessman should be at least a bit cunning/ruthless too, otherwise how can he stay on top of the game. But TSJ comes off as too trusting (bordering stupid)🤦‍♀️I better stop here, before I rant uncontrollably about TSJ and his ‚healthy‘ relationship with XY 🙈.

I agree that he’s acting is not on par with the others, maybe that‘s why his character charms deteriorating for me as soon as the character becoming contradictory as the series goes on because he failed to show the more complicated side of TSJ or it‘s the fault of the script, which failed to flesh him out better🤷‍♀️.  I read the novel only the XL parts 😉. It’s enough to be tortured watching Xy-TSJ sweet moments in the drama, I don’t need to torture myself by reading about it too. To be fair he‘s a new actor right and only active for like 2 years. So I‘m cutting him some slack too.

And lastly  if I learnt anything from my AoL time, chemistry is a weird thing. Some get it some not at all. It’s not only the chemistry between the actor and actress but also with us, the audience. I don‘t begrudge Deng Wei‘s luck in gaining new fans, His fans may be feeling what we feeling for XL, so each to his own. But I still happy knowing that TJC gained more fans 😈🤪.

This scene is giving me these vibes

Beautiful. I just wish she stopped being a fool. Other than that, carry on, please.

Chingu you said that you have your credit card ready so you can make a money transfer for him and confess your love 🤭🤭💕💕

Agreed. That song matches that scene really well.

I think this song Moondust goes well with Xiang Liu's feelings about Xiao Yao in general too.

Ahhhh…this is so sad. Sometimes I hate XL for being so cruel to himself. At this moment of time after these 37 years she would have definitely ran right into his arms 🥹
