I guess it‘s because those actors are acting in idol period drama right, with lower acting standard because the script and characterization are also usually cookie cutter thing which they copy paste from each other. The main requirements like you said is to be pretty or handsome and adequate acting is like a bonus thing. LYF is actually pretty unique as the characters are morally grey and layered and there is no BIG Villain who‘s pure evil to be defeated like in other XianXia, but circumstances, family, politics and character stay true to the core value and behave logically like normal people would, that make it interesting to watch how the story and conflict unfold.

It is so sad. But seems to be the Chinese drama standard. and if you actually look good and can act it is also super hard to be taken seriously. Like all those serious drama usually only have ‘ugly’ actors. I am like can’t actors not look good and act good. It is weird with Chinese entertainment industry. On the other hand all those serious drama usually are way too political propaganda type, so I wouldn’t watch anyway. But still it is sad how Chinese entertainment had become. The rules they are applying are getting worse by day.

I love the drama for the details like how XY pulls on her clothes before going back to meet XL the morning after she knew FFB is XL. Or the 37 years under water all the scenes they showed always have XY spirit in the other side, so never gets a glance at XL face directly when he looks obviously in love (in my opinion still no excuse for XY behavior of dismissing his obvious feelings) or the fact that he never actually holds her hands only through the garment when she was lying there. How low self esteem in this case, now I am all sad again. Or maybe I am interpreting too much.  Or you all probably gone through this already, I am just too late to this forum 😅

Might be the due to drama interpretation but what I like about the 37 years scene in the drama was we get to see XL's gentleness.

Wow.  I didn't notice that he didn't hold her hand.

Hmmmm.  It does sort of remind of that scene when FFB revealed himself to be XL when he came to her bedroom, and how he pulled away from her sleeping body, even the pulling blanket away to keep from touching her.... or maybe he was a blanket hog. LOL!

Don't get me started on how XY refuses to SEE how much XL loves her.

We can really see how he evolved in the variety show from an awkward guest who mostly stayed in background to become the heart and soul of the show now as regular member.

Even if it is scripted, there's still some spontaneous and improv moments.  And I think he enjoys it, plus I think it's good for him.  Gives him plenty of practice with thinking on feet and being expressive.

I thought it was due to funny censorship about skinship with non endgame. The whole censorship thing is still confusing.

I interpreted due to his low self esteem as being from the demon tribe and she is from the god tribe (shen zu) do you Call that in English? Not sure. I think deep down he has very low self esteem when it comes to being loved. So that was why he doesn’t dare to hold her hand at least when he is XL. I think the time when he was FFB he did hold her hand or better say arm at some point of time but that is  different since it is only an act. Which in my opinion is so ridiculous that they had to make up stupid reasons to go on dates. I mean even after XY knew FFB is XL. Like a stupid cover to make them feel better. And denying their feelings for each other.  Oh no, I start to rant around about them again.

Oh yes that is so true. He becomes fully integrated through the time. And you can see in the beginning how much He Jiong is trying to integrate him too. It is super cute, all the interactions between them all. I miss TJC on Hi6. I watch every Saturday and it is really bad that already like 6 episodes nothing to see from our ‘Da Ge’

This is trueeeee 😂😂 and so comforting I just waking up and see a lot of comments about my comments in ´The legend of rosy clouds' just because I say I hope DW will not just be pretty like in LYF BUT BETTER ACTOR. They’re so mad some people delete comments I think because someone explain them about being free to think what you want I missed out swearing at them im soooooo madddddd too  💀💀💀💀 Where is the commenting and thinking freedom 😅😅 They’re some who doesn’t to understand just want to be brainless aaaaaaa im so mad I shouldn't have slept when I got home from work. I would have done them all now I can’t release my anger. Do you know this feelings 🫠🫠

some of those Jingers have such a meltdown when DW gets criticized smh. It's freedom of speech, we can say whatever we want! and they deleted their comments? LOLOL. I remember when Niki Demonix  got into an argument with one of those Jingers about the dubbing and that Jinger deleted their comment when they realized they were wrong.
