I'm happy so many people internationally have become fans of TJC, if someone would've told me back in 2017 when I first started following his career that he would gain so much love from around the world and so many would recognize his talent and hard work, I would've thought I was dreaming because it has been a struggle for him for many years. And I'm happy to bring any TJC-related information and c-ent news (or gossip haha) because I think it's too bad c-ent is still not that accessible for international fans due to language barrier and other things.
I'm very excited for Go East, the teaser trailer looked even more high quality and top of the line production values than I had hoped. Even Yangzi's parents have invested money into Go East so it shows how much faith people tapped into the industry have in TJC's star power and ability to anchor and lead what many anticipate will be a standout high-performing show for IQIYI (IQIYI lost money for over a decade until 2022 when it finally turned a profit for the first time ever). I'm hoping the show will be able to air in six to nine months or so, although I don't want them to rush through post-production by any means.

You know, I feel particularly bad for not knowing who he was waaay before a few months ago. Granted, I only started watching Asian dramas last year. Which is absurd, I know. But I got so bored with the series and films I've been watching all my life that I decided to expand my horizons. Best decision of my life. Haven't seen people speaking in English on my TV screen for almost a year haha
So now I'm making up for all the time I lost. People are getting tired of me talking nonstop about him. Whatever, I'm spreading the word. He shouldn't had to put up with so many struggles. There are countless celebs out there who do absolutely nothing of relevance and people worship the ground they walk on. He deserves all that and much more.

That trailer was so awesome!! It does look high quality indeed. I usually love IQIYI's productions.

Yes, we can wait. Anxiously, but waiting <3

Actually, I've seen a lot of his newer fans expressing regret or sense of guilt for only having recently discovered him. He has addressed this in interviews as well and (as usual haha) I agree with his perspective on it, that it doesn't matter if someone has been a fan of his since his M.I.C. days or just became a fan of his today, any time is the right time for that particular fan and he is grateful regardless of when someone became a fan or how long they have supported him.
His path was full of struggles and disappointments but they have shaped him, I don't think he would be the actor he is today without the path he had. I don't think he could do justice to all the roles he's had without personally knowing and experiencing what he has gone through on his way to success. When we watch him for example as Xiang Liu or Shen Yi, we can sense that he as TJC has experienced a lot in his own life that he is able to draw on.

Ah! I remember watching the interview in which he says that. Such an angel. Yes, it's true, it doesn't really matter all that much. Everything happens for a reason and when it's supposed to.
But you're certainly lucky that you've been enjoying his work for far longer than us :) We're now scrambling to catch up hahah

That's also true. No one becomes that good without having to overcome some difficulties.
i recently stumbled a YT video, there were some judges and TJC on the stage acting a short skit with other people. It was a random watch lol.
The video title is in chinese not sure if anyone saw it b4.
I was truly immersed in his scene and even the judge praised him for his acting talent. I hardly stan RP, but i think he's growing on me.
and he's so cute!

It's a rabbit hole. It all started with a couple of YT videos.
I'm not sure. I may have seen something like it. I'd have to check The List™.
LOL yeah, I'm quite sure he's growing on you. It's sort of unavoidable. I've had some crushes throughout my life, but never to this level 😹😭

Was it a modern skit? Where he rides up on a bike? And has an emotional talk with a heavier actress?
Or was it a costume piece in Ming era? With the shaved head and pony tail?
I think that's the I am the Actor show. It's amazing! The judges are professionals, like writers and directors and actors. Several actors haven't gotten a boost from that show. I think Tan Jian Ci actually is in the group with the gal that played Elder Sister Gong Zi Shang. I'll see if I can find a link.

I think the breakup scene you mentioned was from another acting show, where he was there only as a guest for one episode. In ‚I am the Actor‘ show with actors and directors as judges (one of them is Zhang Ziyi, if I‘m not mistaken) his first scene was also a break up scene with a pretty actress but they get back together at the end of the skit. It was his first ever stage performance and he was praised for being a natural in acting. And it‘s even more admirable that he didn‘t graduate from acting school/uni but his acting chops and line delivery are comparably as good or even better to the actors with ‚proper‘ training from acting school. There was also another acting show but more a comedy type of acting (with Xie Na as one of the judges) and he appeared in a couple of Eps and even won at the end, but the quality of this show is lower than the other acting show imo and it can sometime bordering on cringe. But TjC is always a treat to watch and it‘s good that he also tried comedy and broadens his horizont. He‘s actually also well suited for comedy, he‘s so hilarious in Hi6. When I think about it XL had many different scene types with XY from comedy to sweet to intense thriller to hot hot hot get your own room ones to heartbreaking. No wonder the other MLs pales in comparison as their scene with XY didn‘t have this much range.

Yes, I've seen Lost, Indulgence -- he was only 16 when he was in that but I thought he was a natural and a standout. I've also seen Adoring and he was great in that too -- keep tissues handy if you're sensitive to movies about cute animals and their bonds with humans.
I really want to see Lost Indulgence -- his first acting role, I believe.
I did see Adoring. I think it's on Amazon Prime. Of course, it is a collection of animal stories, so his role is limited. It also has a different look for him with the shaved head hair growing out.
His co-star there is in Go East I believe. I was hoping she was going to play the FL, but I think she's the second lead.

Oh. I didn't realize that. I know he was on I am an Actor a couple of times. And yes, Zhang Ziyi has been one of the judges. Isn't his old co-star / mentor from Advisor's Alliance Wu Xio Bo one of the judges? Or is he on the other show you are talking about? But yes, most of the judges loved him and their praise even made him cry.
I did see the one with the pretty actress. He was trying to break up with her, IIRC. Hmmmm. I kind of thought they were all part of the same show with the heavier actress. I guess I'll just have to watch them again. Sacrifices. lol
I agree. XL had just so much more to do in LYF and his range covered everything. We were just laughing in the comments section about the waiter and FFB scene where he again, had no money. lol And of course, there's the classic face drawing scene, where it is hilarious, but he's really angry and I think a little hurt.
I think that's why I'm really looking forward to that Wang Churan show. Cause it looks like he's going to bring a funny sarcastic element to that show.
