I think Over the Sea I Come to You is on youtube.atmospheres:
Yes it is!

I want to start watching it, but things go awfully bad toward the end lol
He's not and never has been the type of actor people like to say could have chemistry with even a rock on the groundatmospheres:
Oh my gosh, really?
That's doesn't mean he is lacking because of that, on the contrary he's an actor who needs to play off another decent actor, he needs that human connection, he's not going to emote to something inanimate or effectively inanimate the same way that he can emote to someone who is meeting him part of the way. He'll try, but it will just look off and unbalanced, as it has in the past.atmospheres:
This reminds me of this very funny video: https://twitter.com/tlmssusu/status/1707011581715103805?s=20
That woman is mad. Lol
I found the chemistry in the LMLMV teasers and bts clips awkward and weird/fake -- I'm not into saccharine fluffy romcoms in general but this gave me secondhand embarrassment a bit the vibe was try-hard and off (like he seemed to be trying very hard, but the result was off)atmospheres:
I sort of feel the same :/
I haven't yet dropped any of his shows.atmospheres:
Sticking to all of them till the end.
Welp, except for...you know.
You're just being evil at this point. If I lose my job, I know who's to blame ?.HeadInTheClouds:
hahahaha
The story would have ended differently. Too bad for everyone except Jing that Xiao Yau is an idiot ?.HeadInTheClouds:
liddi:
Hi! Nope, you didn't see wrongly and you're not at the wrong thread lol. If it makes you feel any better, the novel did describe that they were BOTH aroused during this time, but Xiao Liu masked it with a lot of bluster, hiding behind the pretext that she was a man.
Nearly 100 years and XY didn't manage to hit THAT? Even once? She's a lost cause! Xiang Liu was totally wasted on her!HeadInTheClouds:
That would be such a waste of a good pudding. Xiang Liu shouldn't be wasted :(nathsketch:
There's something wrong with that woman. She's an idiot! All those years..... wasted
"I think Over the Sea I Come to You is on youtube. He has some chemistry with his love interest in that one (there were rumors at the time about reel to real, though, so that may have accounted for it because Kang Keren's acting was otherwise...well, it was what it was.) "
That's great! Will try to look for it on YouTube then, hopefully it's not geo-blocked. Didn't realise there were such rumours about them. Actually has he ever been officially linked to anyone? I just realised she was 宁缺's 三师姐 in Ever Night. Never really made the connection previously.
Interesting observation about him requiring a decent actor to play off in order to give an even more effective performance. I was just watching him in 王牌对王牌 when he played 贾玲's young lover whom she was breaking off with, as well as his various stage performances on 我就是演员 especially Beijing Love Story, and his delivery shines there, so I see where you are coming from. LMLMV is not my usual cup of tea (I don't like romances per se), but it's TJC and it's voice acting, plus Zhou Ye doesn't rub me the wrong way... Not to mention I need something where he is actually happy and desired for a change after the pain in LYF. Am currently rewatching UTS, and might give Are You Safe another go (haven't progressed past Ep4 yet).
"滤镜 set-up sounded to me a lot like the kmovie later turned into the kdrama The Beauty Inside involving a woman who is able to shapeshift. "
Hmm.. didn't occur to me until you mentioned it. Haven't watched the movie nor the drama, so no basis for comparison. I personally love Tong Hua's historical novels though her original scripts, especially the more lighthearted ones are more of a hit and miss for me, like her historical adaptations. I understand having to work within the confines of censorship and production budget and feasibility, but I wish the essence of the character and the plot were not drastically changed. Praying that the leaked script is a false alarm and LYF S2 does not all but make Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao's relationship line unrecognisable. The one that I dread yet look forward to is Xiang Liu's death scene, which TJC worked 4 days on in the sweltering heat, and those who watched were crying over.
Which of his works do you personally recommend, seeing you've watched them all? The ones that stay on in my mind are Advisors Alliance (wish he wasn't dubbed though), Winter Begonia, Under the Skin and LYF. Will need to rewatch Secrets of the Three Kingdoms... only watched bits and pieces of it briefly when it first aired.
liddi:
Good good. And nope, he deserves so much more than what he got, even if it was the end he wrote for himself and her...
Yeah, it's a pity. Damn beautiful character in every aspect *sobs*
Oh, the Over the Sea I Come to You link is this one: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMR5qLmbPu-kSMOgxqN8iIKgpTQcTec7K

Don't let the more unreasonable Jingers see this. They think the YaoLiu fans who giggled about the arousal in this scene are lewd/lecherous ?
Seriously?? What do they have to say then about Ch43 when Xiao Yao was practically clinging on top of Xiang Liu, refusing to let him go, nestling in his embrace as he fed on her? Or her waking up in the seashell and telling him happily that she had a happy dream, the first time she slept well after Jing married, and her heart raced and her face burned as she imagined the implications of sleeping 37 years together with Xiang Liu in the seashell (Ch27)? Or her fascination as she watched Fangfeng Bei feed on her wrist for the first time in her chambers and her tenderness and care as she kept him safe while he healed (Ch17)? Or the times she touched his hair, gently wiped the blood from the corner of his lips, the way she reluctantly stood at the door and kept looking at him, refusing to go in after he told her a general's best ending is to die on the battlefield (Ch29)? Are we reading the same novel?

You're too optimistic and hopeful, liddi, but I hope you are right about them not butchering the YaoLiu relationship line. I'm fine with them not ending up together, but I don't think I can watch his death scene. I'll be watching between my fingers *cried*.
I haven't read other details about his new drama penned by Tong Hua; do you know if it's supposed to be heavily romance-based? And I agree with you about Tong Hua as a script-writer, none of the drama she penned has been half as good as her novels. The modern romances that I watched have a really weird tone to them - the comedy elements were forced and out of place. Hopefully, the new project with TJC will be better.
DW's voice actor was Bian Jiang right? The same one who voiced as Lan Wangji?
Since Bian Jiang was in few popular works, his voice in here triggered me. lol
And in recent times, actors are starting to dub in their own voices.
So i have no idea WHY he's not doing it in here, unless he have strong accent like Dylan Wang.

These moments make me want to read the novel so badly.
I don't know what to do, help
Also, Elise had a very elucidating photo of this moment in Chapter 43 hehehe

It's somewhere lost forever in one of our threads :)

I probably shouldn't have specified the scene in the GIFS, but the allusion to arousal in a number of YaoLiu's biting scenes. There is a particular word that Tong Hua used to describe this feeling that can be loosely translated to pleasure. The YaoLiu fans were of course discussing this, and the Jingers accused them of being lewd and leacherous for focusing on this word. This is of course, on top of accusing YaoLiu fans of supporting rape and sexual assaults in real life. I can't roll my eyes hard enough.
I stayed far away from them, to be honest. Goodness know what other rationalization they come up with for the other intimate scenes you mentioned.

Some of them said she only clung onto him so she could heal him with her blood, nothing more to it. "They're just friends"

Some of them are totally looking at our threads and judging everything we say. Like this. I'm so sorry but it's the truth XD
*Shame on you for supporting that toxic abuser. Liking characters like XL is the reason why girls end up in toxic relationships. I hope you meet a XL in real life one day :) *
Why, thank you! I hope I meet a XL too. He's awesome!! ;)

I don't even go on the public comments section anymore. I just stay in the forums where it's nice and we have fun :D
