Also, Elise had a very elucidating photo of this moment in Chapter 43 hehehenathsketch:
I'm posting it again since I'm shameless!
LINK 2 actually, it probably looked more like link 2 since they were both wet from the waves lol
Xiao Yao got so frantic she hooked her arms around his legs and jumped up to pounce on him, using her body to tightly grab him and pull him down again.
Xiang Liu jerked Xiao Yao into his arms and bit down on her neck in one move. Xiao Yao’s body shivered and then she fell slack, docilely nestled into Xiang Liu to accommodate him.
Xiao Yao rested her head on his neck and closed her eyes, feeling only the rising and falling of the tides around her.
It wasn’t clear how much time passed when Xiang Liu stopped drinking her blood. Xiao Yao drowsily opened her eyes “You can drink more, I’m fine."
Xiang Liu stopped drinking and lifted his head to stare quietly at the sleeping Xiao Yao in his arms.

Thank you, Queen. That's exactly what I was talking about.
If only.
If.
Only.
Which of his works do you personally recommend, seeing you've watched them all? The ones that stay on in my mind are Advisors Alliance (wish he wasn't dubbed though), Winter Begonia, Under the Skin and LYF. Will need to rewatch Secrets of the Three Kingdoms... only watched bits and pieces of it briefly when it first aired.liddi:
The Advisors Alliance/Growling Tiger, Roaring Dragon, Winter Begonia (I only watched TJC's scenes bc I cannot stand Huang Xiaoming so I can't recommend the entire show since I didn't watch the whole thing), Under the Skin, Secret of Three Kingdoms, Are You Safe, Court Lady (I skipped most of Xu Kai's parts because I find his acting....hm, so can't recommend the whole show but did enjoy TJC's parts), and The Centimeter of Love. I actually really admired TJC's acting in The Centimeter of Love because (and he said this himself) the character is the most unlike his real personality and a lot of viewers hated his character and TJC got yelled at and cursed at in public because people were so triggered by his *excellent* portrayal of a selfish, ne'er do well, younger brother/youngest male child (it's a sensitive issue in China). It was one of the few of TJC's shows where I actually enjoyed the whole show outside of just his performance and I thought most of the main cast was very good (you can't really go wrong with excellent professional non-idol actors like Tong Liya and Tong Dawei, though).
And to answer your question, no he has not officially ever been linked to anyone. He has had rumored relationships in the past like Kang Keren and Shi Yanfei and the recent rumor of Mao Xiaotong and a couple others, whether those are true or not I suppose the very hardcore and dedicated contingent of 小檀火 know but they keep quiet to protect his career and image as available/focused only on work. He's quite low-key and private, though, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up being one of those celebrities who quietly announces his marriage and the public didn't even realize he was dating.
Elise:
Even if it's too late to love
A brief moment is engraved forever
It's too late to say goodbye properly
Nothing is left behind except a thread of memory
It isn't even noon yet and I'm already crying......
I'm crying with you...
If I were XY, XL is never allowed to die. I will save him no matter he loves me or not. And I will arrange a new life for him.

Oh god, this is just heaven. I can't even imagine how different the story would have been if they had chose to include this in the series.
You're too optimistic and hopeful, liddi, but I hope you are right about them not butchering the YaoLiu relationship line. I'm fine with them not ending up together, but I don't think I can watch his death scene. I'll be watching between my fingers *cried*.HeadInTheClouds:
I am not sure that it is as much optimism as it is fervent hope. When my child was much younger, their friend once told them that if they kept writing down what they want often enough, it would come true, so... As for his death scene, if it is done well, which I believe it should be based on what TJC said, and the leaks we saw, there is no doubt it will leave us devastated, and much as I grieve for him, I need to see it, though I am not as sure whether my daughter would be able to take it.
I haven't read other details about his new drama penned by Tong Hua; do you know if it's supposed to be heavily romance-based?HeadInTheClouds:
The following is the synopsis I translated for 滤镜. Does it sound similar to The Beauty Inside? In any case, the synopsis is interesting, so I am looking forward to it. Wonder whether they will have 3 different people portray the 3 different personas. Can't imagine Li Landi portraying all three of them, particularly Quan Shengtang...
A high tech product gives the very ordinary Su Chengcheng (Li Landi) the ability to change her appearance. Su Chengcheng transforms into a beautiful girl Su Miao, a female professor Fang Jin, and a gorgeous man right out of a manhwa Quan Shengtang, enabling herself to enjoy her reversal of fortune, while helping the poor and upholding justice. During this time, Tang Yuexi (Tan Jianci) is captivated by Su Miao who stands bravely for justice, cherishes the like-minded Fang Jin, admires and praises the cheerful, cool Quan Shengtang.
In order to keep her secret, Su Chengcheng has no choice but to tell lie after lie, causing Tang Yuexi to lose the one he loves again and again. After suffering a series of blows, the condition of Tang Yuexi's eyes gradually worsens, for which Su Chengcheng is guilt-ridden. Tang Yuexi finally uncovers the truth about Su Chengcheng's identity change and realises that the one he loves is Su Chengcheng alone. A sincere, passionate heart will not be deceived by outward appearances. The two people whose hearts are aligned with each other will face the difficult challenges brought by the filter bracelet together.
Liu Yifei:
Tan dancing and Xiangliu.
To all the scholars here does Xiang Liu have any family
I don't think so. He hatched from an egg. No parents that he knew of. The only family that he knows in hundred of years is Gong Gong and the resistance army. Is it any wonder that he wouldn't/couldn't abandon them 😩
These moments make me want to read the novel so badly.nathsketch:
Please do read it. It may leave you under a cloud of sadness for a long time after, but I think you already know pretty much what to expect anyway...
DW's voice actor was Bian Jiang right? The same one who voiced as Lan Wangji?MySiFeng:
Since Bian Jiang was in few popular works, his voice in here triggered me. lol
And in recent times, actors are starting to dub in their own voices.
So i have no idea WHY he's not doing it in here, unless he have strong accent like Dylan Wang.
No, his VA is 孙睿扬 Sun Ruiyang, who also voiced Deng Wei's characters in TTEOTM, and Yu Mo in Immortal Samsara, among others. From my understanding, actors are dubbed if their own voices or diction are not suitable or does not meet the industry standard. Some actors have the same VA across multiple works - e.g. veteran VA Zhang Jie (not to be mistaken for the Zhang Jie who sang the main theme for LYF) dubbed many of Cheng Yi and Allen Ren's roles. I know that recently, Cheng Yi has been using his own voice, but I think it does not have the same gravitas and clarity of diction as his regular VA's, so perhaps Deng Wei has the same issue too. Still with time and practice, they should hopefully improve to the point where their own voices can be used. Which is why I honestly love TJC's voice - not just the timbre, but the diction, and the nuanced inflection he brings through in his lines makes me so happy that he voices the majority of his roles.
They deny it.Elise:
*speechless*
@liddi
Thanks liddi for the clarification!
Honestly, this is the first time i've encountered such a stressful drama adaptation. Novel and drama are serving different poisons (pun).
I might ending up traumatized by this whole thing. Since this is my first TH's drama adaptation and knowing she's also the screenwriter... she needs to stay away far from me.
There is a particular word that Tong Hua used to describe this feeling that can be loosely translated to pleasure. The YaoLiu fans were of course discussing this, and the Jingers accused them of being lewd and leacherous for focusing on this word.HeadInTheClouds:
The word is 快感 and it can mean different things (excitement, pleasure) in different contexts, but in this instance, it definitely refers to sexual pleasure. If the word does not convince them, then Cang Xuan's reaction (he felt his mouth run dry) is more than enough supporting evidence as to what kind of pleasure the text is referring to. Not forgetting Xiao Liu's self-conscious reaction after that, sliding down and trying to hide her chest, when before she was sprawled like a man.
I honestly don't understand the attacks that are hurled. Their ship is the one that gets to sail to a happily ever after, so why feel so threatened? Of course, if Xiang Liu had chosen not to wake Xiao Yao up at the end of the 37 years in time for her to go and save Jing; or if he had chosen not to save Jing after Hou's attack on him and waking him up in time, there would be no happily ever after to speak of. Instead it would be one very dead Jing, one very dead Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao living the rest of her life as the newly minted Royal Mother. Perhaps only then would the fanwars stop?
Liu Yifei:
Oh god, this is just heaven. I can't even imagine how different the story would have been if they had chose to include this in the series.
At this juncture, I'll be happy if they don't butcher the entire YaoLiu relationship line.
Let's not forget that they already took away the multiple times Xiang Liu gave air to Xiao Liu during their underwater stroll after the lovers bug was planted in him; and the 37 years of him kissing her to feed his essential blood into her mouth, then biting her neck to suck the poison in his blood out of her; and hugging her tightly every time he healed her; sleeping with her every night for 37 years.
I actually really admired TJC's acting in The Centimeter of Love because (and he said this himself) the character is the most unlike his real personality and a lot of viewers hated his character and TJC got yelled at and cursed at in public because people were so triggered by his *excellent* portrayal of a selfish, ne'er do well, younger brother/youngest male child (it's a sensitive issue in China).atmospheres:
Thank you very much for the recommendations. I saw snippets of 爱的厘米 before, and I do remember the interview he gave where he said he could not understand such a character who leeched off his family, especially when he himself had been working and supporting himself from a very young age. Will try and see if I can watch it on a platform I've subscribed to. Incidentally, the Youtube link for Over the Sea I Come to You is geo-blocked for me... argh. Ah well... may need to make do with snippets here and there for now.
As for Winter Begonia, I used to avoid Huang Xiaoming like the plague too (his portrayal in LYF prequel and others makes me want to poke my eyes out). However, his portrayal of Xiao Pingzhang in Nirvana in Fire 2 totally changed my perception of him - excellent performance, and so devastated when he died. And he does a great job in Winter Begonia too. Speaking of NiF, I understand that Zhang Wanyi (who plays Cang Xuan) is casted in NiF3. Would be awesome if TJC were part of the NiF franchise too, which have been excellent, script and production-wise.
He's quite low-key and private, though, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up being one of those celebrities who quietly announces his marriage and the public didn't even realize he was dating.atmospheres:
He does strike me as someone like that. Quite a few celebrity marriages in recent years have been sprung out of the blue like this as well. As long as he is happy and his conscience clear, he certainly doesn't owe it to anyone to explain his love life.
ZYHLJ:
Girls, I have to let you listen to this. This is the song best suits XL that I have found so far. Every sentence is like XL's heartfelt voice... It is called "Purple", a Chinese song with English subtitles, so beautiful.
Also, there is a version that sings even better, but without subtitles. I'll put them both below:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B8Z5MQBeneE&pp=ygUL57SrIGVuZyBzdWI%3D
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c38Xa-Ukuds&pp=ygUK57SrIOmDreaygQ%3D%3D
紫 is a beautiful, poignant song, describing her unrequited love for Wu Kong. And you're right. I prefer Guo Xin's version too, which she sang during the Sing!China S2 competition:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj_C5Iscqig
During that same segment of the competition, Zhou Shen paired up with her for a duet of 大鱼 Big Fish, which is arguably still my favourite version of this song:
